Well, I do for one, and I doubt grease is going to have much effect on how your coach drives.

I do all my own maintenance. Been doing it for 16 years. Yesterday and today I greased the front end, changed oil in the engine and generator, checked and added water to the 4 house batteries and changed all 10 of the COPs. A couple of weeks ago I replaced the alternator.

Always do my own maintenance, The only thing I did not do was replace tires, CAC,/ Radiator & Repair my 3 x 3 upright tube gusset on drive axle. We are full time & do not have a S&B anymore.

Do all my own maintenance mostly everything except engine repairs, Would consider doing that if I had the experience with diesels. May have to learn about engine repairs

Hi Mydogmax and fellow coach owners; Yes, since I retired I have the time to do my own maintenance. At least I know all the fittings get greased. Smballou hit the number for all the fittings to be greased. I use Valvoline Synthetic grease as it meets the specs. for all my vehicles. Put 21 quarts in my 2001 34PB Windsor with the 8.3. I use 2 old gas cans to put my oil in and take it to any of the local auto parts store. They have a limit of 5 gal. per visit, but let me recycle the 6 gal. of oil when I tell them what engine it came out of. Not too inconvenient. I would like to hear Mydogmax comment a little more on the drivability of his 40' coach. My 34' drives just fine with no aftermarket products. Just wondering! Also do all of my 7.5 generator maintenance. Don't think I could afford this large house on wheels if I did not fix everything myself. Everyone have a great day!

I have always done my own maintenance on our coach and my other equipment as well for many years. I enjoy the challenge and satisfaction from each project I complete. I am fortunate to have a shop with a pit which makes working on (and under) the coach somewhat easier.

I know others who would choose not to do the work themselves and have the work done for them. I totally respect that.

The main thing is to keep these machines in the best condition we can so we can enjoy using them hopefully "trouble-free"...
Iver.

Your owners manual should have a grease zerk diagram. I keep an extra copy of that page in a plastic cover and take it with me under the coach.

Download a copy of your owners manual here:

I haven't pulled the cover off the steering column yet to see if the u joint has a grease fitting like the one underneath. My local oil change place will take my oil. Use a sawed off 30 gallon barrel to drain it in.
