handrail light at entry door
Is the glass handrail supposed to be lit? If so how?
Thanx Dean

Mine is lite and is tied to the porch light.
If you remove the grab handle, and it is suppose to be lite, there will be a bulb in either the top or bottom.
My inside grab handle also has a light and tied to the step well lights.

It might work off the same switch as the porch light. Otherwise check fuses.

Mine was not lit on our 2008 Endeavor. It was an easy mod and I installed a color changing led. It is a gentle light and attractive. There are previous posts on how to do it.
Someone is likely to come along with the links or try the little green google search box at the top of the page.
While on the subject and folks check out the new thread I would like to replace my grab handle. Following any leads in the past was just frustrating. There just never seemed to be the one that fits my installation.
Enough time has passed that maybe someone here has the ticket. Mine is looking dated with those crazed cracks/lines and has faded. A new crystal clear one would be nice.
When my porch light is turned on the handle is lit and power goes to the motion detector porch light. That is a great addition while you are doing mods.

You get a lighted grab rail depending how high you are on the food chain. I believe that your coach did not come with a light.
Others have installed lights to their coach's grab bar, so you as well can add a light.
Amazon has the light:
https://www.amazon.com/Manufacturers...s%2C104&sr=8-1
As do others:
https://itcshopnow.com/products/illu...SABEgLHgvD_BwE
After viewing above part, do a search yourself for a legitimate site with good pricing.

Here is how I modified mine. There are a lot of choices for led's these days.

My porch lights are yellow florescent but grab is white, not very bright but attracts more bugs than porch light. It's attractive just puts bugs right at door. I may try to add a piece of amber lighting gel.

I took it apart yesterday and no light is there. Maybe a future mod,but too many with higher priority.
Thanx for all the info!

Dean, it is a simple mod but chasing down the bulb you want to use is the most difficult part I think.
I soldered wires to the bulb I used and glued the bulb in place with hot glue. It has lasted years now and having the handle lit and changing colors is nice. Mine does not seem to attract any bugs, perhaps do to the colors and not being solid white.
The pdf attached in my previous post shows how to drill out the bracket.

I thought about lighting mine up too. Pulled off the handle and saw it was easy to install a upper & lower LED lamp in them. Trick is how to seal the LED on top of the clear handle so the light bounces only into the plastic (plexiglass? lexan? I dunno). Maybe use a clear epoxy mix and then paint over that with a bright silver or chrome paint and it should light up the handle nicely. A color changing LED is a better idea, white does attracts bugs. Big, biting ones. Future project here.
I installed a LED light strip under the Kwikee steps. Safer to see the steps and looks cool, plus I can change it to 3 different colors. The grandkids get to choose the color of the night. Cheap, got them at an auto parts store on sale in the bargin bin.

I used a thin piece of aluminum cut to fit in the metal bracket so the leds were aimed at the plastic, set the plastic in a bead of caulk. I also cleaned and polished the end of plastic handle, it was really rough and wouldn't have passed much light. 3 color changing LEDs are the ticket, it works great.

My '07 Navigator has 3 glass/crystal grab bars. 1 on the outside and 2 on the inside. The 1 outside lights up and one of the one's inside, lights up but the other doesn't for some reason. It's identical to the others so I'm guessing that it is supposed to but perhaps the bulb is out? Does anyone else have these 2 on the inside right next to the door? I suppose I will need to take it apart and perhaps I will then be able to tell if it is supposed to or not. Let me know your thoughts. Thank you as always.

Where did you wire these in? I figure for adding a strip under the awning or along the slide I’ll use the power to the awning motor. Haven’t dug into that just yet, but it’s on the long list.
