Greetings, I've read a couple threads saying that when people aligned their headlights it made a big difference in the lighting provided by the headlights. Wondering if anyone that has done this could make a comment on how they accomplished the re-alignment
FWIW, I have '09 Monaco 41SKQ
Thanks Paul

Not that hard - just do a search for how to do it.
All you need is a tape measure, a flat, level driveway, and a building or wall to back about 25 feet away from. And some string and some masking or duct tape.
Load the coach as you would intend to travel.
Usually vertical adjustments are easier than horizontal.

Thanks douboechevy, would appreciate your thoughts on items you purchased. Would also appreciate if you could share a brief summary of what you had to do to get light fixtures out and in

Recieved headlights late Friday as expected
looked them over seem to be pretty decent units did come with standard lamp
was not expecting the included lamp at the pricing level about ($62.00) Ea. and free shipping
installation was pretty easy had more of a difficult time removing the trim around the lights than installing the fixtures
when matching up the new headlights assemblies to the old assemblies I found that Monaco did not use some of the alignment pins that were on the new assemblies
Had to cut off to locating pins so new units would fit the installation
old assemblies had only one alignment pin new assemblies had three
project only took about 2.5 hrs could be done faster having done them now
Next project could be checking and setting alignment
Will try to post pictures from my phone No garanties I will be successful

Good job!
Typically always need alignment. Easy to do, just need a flat level surface.

I was lucky to find someone that seems to have a lot of knowledge on RV headlights.
The company is Daniel Stern lighting. I have not yet executed their recommendations on my RV but I will this spring (so I guess you could say these recommendations are not yet proven on my RV) but they seem to make sense and DS has lots of data to support them.
Seems there are 2 issues caused by many RV builders because they tried to save a few bucks. 1. As already stated most RV headlights are truck/car headlights designed by the automotive industry, however many of the RV manufacturers didnt buy the OEM light, but a knock-off that provides much worse performance (and lower cost for them). Secondly, the 12V power to the headlights normally comes from either starter batteries or alternator, both of which are a long way from the headlight on a diesel pusher. Unfortunately many used smaller wire which results in a significant voltage drop, which results in poor bulb performance.

I believe my ‘06 Knight (built in late 2005) used 1998 Navigator HL assemblies. I have not yet tried them.
