Headlight Assemblies for '05 Monaco Knight

I want to upgrade our coach headlight assemblies to projector style.

Is there an "off the shelf" vehicle headlight that fits this opening?

Thanks in advance,

2 things to think about -

If upgrading just the lamp - making sure the headlamp fixture is rated for the type of lamp your installing. Some plastics don’t tolerate higher output lamps very well.

If upgrading the whole filter, make sure the fixture is rated for the lamp you want to use.

FWIW - after replacing both headlight housings complete with new OEM equivalent lamps - the visibility didn’t improve. But I didn’t spend much time trying to align, until last week.

Oh what a difference!

Same was true with our new to us (last May) 2018 Jeep Wrangler. Now, all Wrangler headlights suck - but I’ve come to realize (this being our 2nd Wrangler) that I don’t think they have alignment equipment at the factory any more.
I aligned the lights on it - bingo! I can see the road!

Thank you for the advice. My lenses are not great, so I am replacing the entire assembly. I'm looking for a vehicle headlight assembly that fits my coach.

Look on the clear lens, there will be some numbers molded in along the top or bottom.

All D.O.T. Approved headlight lens assemblies have to have those numbers.

TYC is one of the manufacturers or replacements. The assemblies are usually used in a model from one of the big automakers.
The ones in our ‘02 coach came from and early 90’s full size Chevy (assemblies bought last year). The one’s for our previous ‘91 coach came from late 80’s Chrysler’s (assemblies bought in 2018).

I got a Facebook reply saying the '05 Knight uses 2000 Ford F150 pickup headlights. I don't know what the source was, but the F150 does look correct. Spec-D Tuning makes a one piece headlight / turn signal assembly with projector bulbs. I'd like confirmation.

The DOT # on old lamp mentioned is conformation. It's how many owners found source of HLs.

Pretty sure I know what the lights are but the op just disappeared or just won’t post a picture. Has anyone ever actually matched a dot number to a light? Never worked for me .

OP posted a picture in post #5.

He said he confirmed the lens via Facebook using the DOT# (am guessing he found a number for cross-reference to, and wanted confirmation, which he did via Facebook). Post#8.

I’ve found headlight assemblies for both our coaches that way - the first coach being 27 years old when I searched, the 2nd 19 years.

No, he posted an on hand photo of his coach. I can’t see the headlites clearly. Pretty sure they are Lincoln Navigator lights that Monaco used. But whatever, pretty sure the dot # is for the lens, can be various assemblies it’s attached too is my understanding.

Hi Mark, I have been investigating headlight replacement because my headlight lenses are no longer in good shape and because they provide a very low level of light.
I was lucky to find someone that seems to have a lot of knowledge on RV headlights.
The company is Daniel Stern lighting. I have not yet executed their recommendations on my RV but I will this spring (so I guess you could say these recommendations are not yet proven on my RV) but they seem to make sense and DS has lots of data to support them.
Seems there are 2 issues caused by many RV builders because they tried to save a few bucks. 1. As already stated most RV headlights are truck/car headlights designed by the automotive industry, however many of the RV manufacturers didnt buy the OEM light, but a knock-off that provides much worse performance (and lower cost for them). Secondly, the 12V power to the headlights normally comes from either starter batteries or alternator, both of which are a long way from the headlight on a diesel pusher. Unfortunately many used smaller wire which results in a significant voltage drop, which results in poor bulb performance.

FWIW, Check out Rockauto.com using the DOT number from the lense. I got tired of sanding and polishing my old lenses as the old plastic crazed over quickly. I found my assemblies there reasonably priced.
