Headlight wiring

I have a 2005 HR Sceptor. The problem is the low beam head lights stay on all the time. Head light switch off and low beam in on, when you switch to high beam the low beam goes off. The only way I can shut off the low beam is the remove a relay in the lower left compartment. Would anyone have a wiring diagram for the dash area and head lights. The wiring diagrams I have are the ones that came with the MH but does not show any thing for the headlight's. Maybe someone might have had the same problem before. This unit does have the smart steering wheel.

Are you saying the low beams stay on with the ignition off? If so, yes you have a problem.

If the low beams go on and off with the ignition, then they are probably set up as daytime running lights. Daytime running lights are mandatory in Canada (and have been for years) - so maybe your MH was originally a Canadian sale.

I do not live in Canada. The headlights are on all the time. Ign switch on or off.

Has it ever worked correctly since you've owned it?

Yes it worked for some time. We dont drive at night. a neighbor came over a couple nights ago and said the headlights were on. the only way I could turn off the HL was to pull a relay for the driving lights. If I could get a wiring dia for the HL circuit. would be a big help. I have a full set of wiring dia for the coach but does not include the headlights... Any help would be appreciated.

Did you replace the relay? Do you have the steering wheel pad control and a switch on the dash?

In my rig, when the windshield wipers are started the lights turn on. The smartwheel control turns them on. You might try resetting the smartwheel box by pulling its fuse. Or maybe shut your entire rig power down with both the engine & house power switches.

Good Luck - this one sound’s frustrating.

I replaced the relay. It had got so hot that it started to melt. Yes I have the smart steering wheel. I replaced the steering wheel cable as it had a short that was tripping the headlight fuse. No more blowing fuses.
