Help! Jammed Slide Out 2005 Monaco Safari Cheetah

Help! On my 2005 Monaco Safari Cheetah, the rear driver side bedroom slide out is jammed closed and won’t budge. I removed the motor and even with a breaker bar on the shaft, I can only get it to move a couple of inches. I checked for anything blocking it on the inside and as far as I can tell, it’s all clear. The top will rock back and forth from the inside. Since the slide out is in, I can’t really see under it except what’s exposed in the cabinet below. Here is a picture of what I can see. Has anyone else had this issue or have any suggestions? Thanks in advance

Does the motor run when not engaged with the gears...all on it's own?

Do you know what make/model slide it is?

You can access the top by removing the thin fabric covered top, probably 6-8 screws holding it down. This will provide a view of the top.

Look underneath of the bed box at the foot of the bed, there should be two rollers that the bed box rolls back and forth on and see if you can see any obstruction there.

When I removed my bed box to lay new flooring the rollers had eaten a rut in the wood, I guess if it had gotten worse it could have caused the slide to bind.

Has it ever been lubed?

The top land of the rack is worn, as is the bottom land of the pinion- the top of the teeth on the long flat gear is contacting the bottom of the teeth of the round gear. There's no contact between the faces of the gears where they should be touching.

Instead of the weight of the slide riding on the rollers and the pinion pulling it in and out it's riding on the rack and pinion.

The space between the rack and pinion needs to be increased. I don't see any adjustment for that in your picture. It could b done with the roller diameter which is a terrible design. Neither the rollers nor the surface they should contact look like they have much wear. Can you turn them by hand?

Problem Solved

Problem Solved (Sort of) – so it turns out that there are two electric motors on that slide out! One is visible and accessible through the storage compartment under the slide out. The other one is hidden up under the rear wheel well. You have to remove the side panel and a metal plate to get to it. They don’t make it easy. All the other slide motors are easily accessible, I guess they just thought they would play dirty on this one. Sure enough, released the brake on this motor and it I was able to operate the slide using the other motor. Now I need to locate a replacement motor. The fun never ends! Thanks for all your help and hopefully this will help someone else in the future.
