Help with Trace 2000 inverter/charger(Xantrex)

We just had a storm roll by and I think it blew the circuit breaker on my Trace 2000 w inverter/charger. The circuit breaker is a black plastic circle with a white center with 25 written on it. It says press to reset. Am I supposed to press the center white area with a screwdriver or something? I have tried pressing with my finger, but I don't want to break anything, so I anyone is familiar with this I would appreciate help.

I think it is the same as later model Xantrex RV type inverter/chargers.

In most cases if it needs reset it will be sticking out a little if not that is not you problem
in most cases.
It should not take any effort to push it back in with your finger.

Thanks Art, I'm at a loss right now. I was on shore power when the storm hit. Now I can't charge from either shore or the generator, but I can charge from the alternator.

I've been on hold with Xantrex for 1/2hr, listening to terrible music.

Have you checked to see if you have power to your plug in for the MH?
Do you have a surge protector that needs reset?

I have power to the surge protector, and I won't charge off of the generator. Xantrex tech support thinks I have blown the control board.

Thanks for your help.

Is there any indication that you are getting AC power to it?

On my unit I have a breaker in the bedroom that controls AC to the inverter and
I have a light on the inverter if AC is present at the input.

I now know that the inverter is working, if I remove shore power and genset is off, TV works. If shore power and gen is off, light on unit is green indicating that it is inverting. If I connect shore power the light turns to orange, indicating that it should be charging, however no charging is happening.

I talked with Lynn Butts, Xantrex Svc center in NC (nice guy on phone), and I am going to attempt to remove the unit tomorrow and drive it to him. It is located in the dead center of the coach but there is an access panel from the next bay. We will see if this old body can still bend and stretch.

Sounds like it has a internal problem.
Do not do what I did today spent 5 hours off and on under the dash installing a few
things and I am here to tell you they did not allow for anyone to do this long story
short a couple of times I bent and stretched and then had a hard time getting out
of that location.

I bet, I've taken a peek behind my dash and I hope to goodness that I never have to go there. My coach for the most part is put together pretty well, but behind the dash looks scary as hell.

Take the cover off the Inverter and check the fuses inside.

I had a similar problem last summer. A thunderstorm rolled through and struck directly behind me. It took out my inverter control board and the guy next to me as well. He also lost his refrigerator control board. Even with a surge protector the lightning gets in through the ground circuits.

To reset your inverter, you need to remove both 110V AC and 12V DC power to it. Turn off the inverter circuit breaker and the 12V cut off and try to reset the inverter push in circuit breaker. After reapplying power and resetting the inverter push in breaker, some inverters have a reset button that you have to hold in for 10 seconds.

If the reset doesn't work, you probably have a control board failure. Try to minimize your light usage as they operate on 12V and your charger is not recharging your batteries. I used a car battery charger to keep my batteries charged until we could replace the inverter.

Chris at Tekris Power and Electronics is an expert on inverters and has the best price on repairs as well as new inverters. They are an authorized service center and repair most inverters with locations in NJ and AZ
