Holiday Rambler (2001) Endeavor Help

Greeting all,

My wife and I are new owners of a 2001 HR Endeavor (38PBD) coach, and are new to Coach/RV ownership.

The Coach we bought needs some minor repairs that I plan to complete over the next few months, however currently, we have an issue with the automatic leveling jacks and the sensor (warning) indicating they are deployed when they are physically in the retracted position.

Since I need to transport the coach from the seller to my home (5.5 hours), I am wondering if there is a way to solve this issue. I believe it is a sticky/frozen sensor that is causing the issue, since the coach has been sitting for the last 2-3 months.

Any suggestions to correcting this issue? Thank you.

You didn't say which leveling system but here is a manual of a very common one and it may give you some ideas.

HWH auto leveling manual with troubleshooting; http://www.hwhcorp.com/ml37640.pdf

I also added the page that might help;

I have RVA jacks and the alarm will sound, even when the jacks are up, if the system is low on hydraulic fluid. You can tell what kind of jacks you have by looking at the jack control panel. The RVA jacks say RVA at the bottom of the panel.

If you have RVA jacks, the reservoir is in the front of the coach near the front steps--access it by putting the generator slide out. Here's what the manual says about filling the reservoir.

Adding Fluid:
1. An indication of a system needing fluid is a chime sounding when
turning corners. Use Dexron III automatic transmission fluid.
2. Extend any jack 6 inches from the full retracted position. All other
jacks should be fully retracted.
3. Unscrew the reservoir cap from the top of the pump.
4. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position. Turn the power ON rocker
switch. Open the window so the bong alarm is audible from outside
the motorhome. Slowly fill the reservoir with fluid until the bong
alarm stops sounding.
5. Replace the reservoir cap.
6. Turn the ignition switch and the remote panel OFF.

Thank you for the quick response. It is an automatic self leveling system, however I am trying to obtain the specific model which I will provide once obtained.

So at the time of build the coach had the optional "Power Gear 4 Point Jacks" added. The Vehicle Data Card indicates- Leveling Jacks: Power Gear; Model# 8089/8088. Not sure if this helps to clarify. I will be able to take a picture of the specific instrument panel tomorrow, when at the coach. Thanks.

90% plus chance your reservoir is low. Add most any brake fluid.

If the jacks are up it can be a number of things including a bent piston. There is a plug coming off the top of each jack. You can unplug the sensor and this should stop the alarms so you can move the rig.

I have the exact same coach with Power Gear 4 point jacks. The system uses Type A automatic transmission fluid. AND the reservoir must be filled right to the top

Thanks for the input from everyone.

Here is the instrument panel. I will attempt to fill the reservoir first to resolve the issue. Thanks again.

Alarm when jacks are up

We have a 2002 HR Endeavor with the same controller and jack system. It isn't an "automatic" system but rather a "manual leveling jack system". I have had the alarm sound a few times and everytime the fluid level was a little low (it doesn't take much) check the manual to see how to check and add fluid. You probably have a small leak on a piston when in the down position.

The jacks have to be retracted before you add the fluid or else it will be overfull.
