Holiday Rambler ambassador engine belt

Hey also serpentine belt broke on rear-mounted Cummins engine on a 2006 Holiday Rambler with the radiator in the rear. For those of you you understand this and I've done this before replacing the belt were you able to do that without removing the radiator or did you all have to remove the radiator?

Any tips or tricks or thoughts while doing this and appreciate the help I am stuck in the middle of nowhere

Hi DublDwn; Yikes! Sorry to hear about the belt and thank god I have a side radiator coach. Been lots of posts here in the IVR2 forum about replacing the belt on rear radiator coaches and as far as I know you don't need to remove the radiator, you just need to be a contortionist! It is doable, just not easy. You either have to work out of one of the floor hatches in the closest to gain access. The best way to get a blow by blow description would to use the search box at the top right of this page. Try entering, replacing the serpentine belt on a rear radiator 2006 Holiday Rambler Ambassador, and I am sure you will find some posts outlining that task. Hope this info helps and good luck. Got a small child to snake in that space? P.S. make sure to check the pulleys and the belt tensioner to make sure one of these items did not freeze up and break the belt as that does happen!

Double Down,
I have changed the belt on my 2007 Diplomat ... yours may be a bit different, but the procedure (from memory) was as follows:

1. Remove rock grate installed by Monaco to prevent radiator damage.
2. Remove the hanger attachment from driver's side Monaco mud flap and swing back out of the way.
3. Use Harbor Freight long handle (24 inch) 1/2 inch ratchet/swivel and insert the 1/2 inch drive into the tensioner square hole. The tensioner is on driver's side.
4. Pull ratchet handle to relieve tension on tensioner and wedge handle under large air intake tube to keep the tension off of the belt.
5. slide the belt off of the water pump pulley.
6. Remove belt from tensioner: (may have to relieve the tension on the ratchet handle to allow more room around the tension pulley).
7. Snake the belt off by slipping the belt around the fan blades and wiggling to get around the lip on the crank damper pulley.
8. Slip new belt over the top of the tension pulley (not on the pulley)and then snake belt over each fan blade and crank pulley and then on to the tensioner pulley. ( I can't remember if I slipped the belt over the crank pulley and then the fan pulley first).
9. With the tension pulley tension loosened: route the belt over each pulley per your diagrams. Slip over smooth water pump pulley last.
9. Verify the belt is properly aligned with each pulley.
10. Remove ratchet tool from tensioner and reinstall mud flap and rock grate.

This is from memory, but I hope it helps a little. Jim
