Holiday Rambler slide question

I hope this is the correct area to post this question.

I recently purchased a 1998 Holiday Rambler 38 WDS and have a question relating to the slide operation.

In the owners manual, what little there is of it, the is a brief section discussing the operation of the slide. It says "locate two locking bar mechanisms on top of slide out room inside motor home. Move handles to unlocked position, unscrew handles to release bar mechanisms and remove bars from between wall and top of slide out room. Store bars for reuse before motorhome is in motion.".

I don't understand what they are talking about at all - and there are no pictures showing what the manual is relating to.

Is there some sort of system that should be utilized to secure the slide before moving the coach or what ???

The previous owner didn't say anything about this when I went over the coach him.

The slide seems to work perfectly and he ( the PO ) didn't do anything while demonstrating the slide operation prior to our road testing the coach.

What am I missing here??

Sorry about this long story, but I didn't know where else to turn for a possible answer.

Do you know if you have slide locks mounted on the side of the slides that engage when the slide is pulled in???? We have the DeWald lock system on ours.

On our coach it had the same thing in the manual but they were not installed when we took ownership and weren't in the coach. I never tried to source new ones. We've never had a problem with the slide moving while in transit. There is also a lock on the electric motor that prevents the slide from moving also.

I just got a 98 HR Endeavor 37cds.

No slide locks on mine either.

My process to put the slide out has been:
Park
Bleed air bags
Level (fronts down to touching ground and take a little weight, then same with rears. Then follow lights)
Put out slide

Mine has a manual leveller and shakes the rig pretty bad when deploying them. Did not want to have the slide out while leveling. I have to get some
Jack pads and something to drive coach up onto to level front to back. Also need some wheel chocks.

With my 2006 Diplomat I have two expanding rods (they lengthen by turning like two ball screws threaded into a solid middle piece). They can be placed between the flange of the slide and a inside wall of the coach when we travel. Totally optional whether to use or not to use. Could that be what they are describing?

On my 2000 they stayed under the bed and never used them, slides never moved. They look like some kind of leveling Jack. Yours I would guess have been disguarded.

I have a 1998 Endeavor 37' CDS with one couch, sink range and counter slide. I have two bars which fit in the space over the microwave between the slide and the wall. They expand with an arm which makes them a little longer. The manual say don't move the coach without them in place. The manual also says level first then slide out. Makes sense to me so I always dump air, level, then slide out. Putting the slide out tends to make that side a bit lower so sometimes I'll re-level a little with the slide extended.

I bought a 2000 HR endeavor and mine did have two braces to lock the top of the slide, this units only have the gears on the bottom and the top needs to be locked or when riding in rough terrain, the top of the slide tend to rock away from the top. Unfortunately I am away from the unit until November 20, I could send a picture of the braces then

Own 04 Admiral and when I first bought mine I too was looking for these lock bars after reading the slideout manual and couldn't find them anywhere in in the motor home. I haven't had any problems with the slide out moving or shifting anyway while driving.

ID:	145790 here it is on top of the stove which is a better place to use it.
You have to be sure to remove them before you extend the slide.
