Home theater/VCR/DVD

Have a 06 HR Scepter with the "factory" RCA RTD 300 control box. This is the home theater speaker/VCR/DVD control box with remote and not the
Winegard switching control. Mine appears to be dying. I do not want a whole new home thester system but only a compatible box. I wish to keep the existing speakers as installed in the MH. I don't need the VCR and if the DVD player needed to be seperate that could probably be worked around. Ideally a new box/DVD combo would be the best. Has anyone had any similar problems and how did you resolve them? Thanks for any help in this regard!

I have the same problem with a different RCA box. The problem is the size of the cabinet where they are installed. My cabinet is only 12 inches deep and most of the a/v boxes are in the 14 - 15 inch range. RCA makes a couple that will fit, but they come with speakers. They also have miserable reviews. Wal-Mart sells them. If you have a cabinet that is deeper than 13 inches , here are a couple that have good reviews and will fit. Philips HTS 3541, Sony DAV TZ140, SonyBDV E780W. As with most of the small units, these come with speakers. The A/V receivers only, are too big to fit in the cabinet.

You will have a lot more options finding a Amp that will fit and adding a stand alone DVD Player. Just as important is adding ventalation the cabinet to prevent premature failure of the new components. Amplifiers especially need air. Measure your cabinet and start shopping.

your best bet will be to buy a new modern bluray home theater, nd just don't use the speakers, wire em to the speakers you have now.

I replaced my RCA unit years ago with an "Open Box" Sony unit from Best Buy. The speakers were beat up which was perfect. I tossed the speakers and used just the unit.
