well we picked up our mh from precision paint and drove it north approx 400 mi. did the horton clutch fan make a difference? i'd say yes. seemed more fluid or loose at highway speed. when stopped and walking around back it was much quieter. as far as milage its hard to tell in 400 mi. but i did top off tank when leaving and topped it off when arriving home and it showed about 9.5 mpg maybe 1 mpg improvement. we are leaving in april for a 2300 mi ride and will be able to report a more accurate improvement. overall i'm happy we did it. one funny note, the tech installed a manual override switch on the dash. when leaving indiana i was looking all over for this switch, couldn't find it anywhere. well dw pointed to a switch and said do you think it might be the one with big logo of a fan blade on it. he did such a good job and matched the existing switches i couldn't even see it(camoflauge) jim

What does the override switch do? I had my coach painted at Precision last year and the tech from Cummins came and installed the fan clutch at Precision's shop but he did not install any switches on the dash. My coach runs about 10 to 12 degrees hotter now than before the clutch mod although when the fan clutch fully engages at about 206 degrees the temp drops steadily.

Jack, mine did the same thing on my 05 Ambassador. I was told by the installer that running hotter was a good thing as the 330 Cummins is most effiecient at around 190 degrees, if I remember right. Mine kicks in the high speed at 205 and cools down quickly. I changed the coolant to Final Charge Global (red) last summer. Very subjective on my part but it does not seem to kick on to the high speed as much as did with the regular coolant.

I don't have a bypass switch either but really can't see the need for one if the fan is working as designed.

jack and jim, guess i should have explained the reason for the override switch. my trans coolant does not run through the radiator as normal. i had a seperate trans cooler installed after having problems back in 02, monaco installed the aux cooler (a seperate trans radiator) instead of replacing the radiator. some pros and cons on that one. the tech was concerned that if the occasion would occur that we would be sitting idle to long that the trans could overheat. by having the ability to turn the fan on manually it would solve the trans cooling problem. jim
