How do I bypass the “salesman’s switch”??
My 12v volt power went off twice yesterday and to recover it, I had to reset the stupid switch. What does it take to eliminate it?
Regards, Jimbabs

In my rig, it is a solenoid in the forward left compartment where the majority of the 12vdc fuses and components are. Have someone cycle the switch while you listen. Then install a heavy gage jumper across it. Pictures to follow if necessary.

Also in my rig, there are two switches. The salesman switch by the front door cuts MOST 12vdc to the coach, leaving the fridge and the smoke alarms powered. The battery cutoff switch in the battery compartment cuts off ALL 12vdc.

Sometimes there is enough wire on one of the large wires to just pull it across to the other side of the relay and put it on the same lug as the other wire. This will bypass it. Some people just bypass it permanently. I prefer to replace the relay, and keep everything functioning as it should. They cost around 100 dollars.

On some coaches it is an "ON/OFF" switch energizes or de-energizes a device. On others, it is a momentary switch that operates a toggling device.
Please consider putting the year, make and model of your coach in either your "signature" or in the text of every posting you do. These coaches are way too unique to be able to give good help without that information.
I do strongly agree with Winniman, though, that it is best to maintain and/or repair to keep your system working as designed than it is to just modify without complete knowledge of the potential drawbacks.

Hi....now the switch doesn’t work at all....no 12volt power.
As you suggested, I can hear a clicking when it is operated.
I’d really appreciate pictures.
Thanks, Jimbabs

On my rv, the relays look like this. The two large lugs on the side are power in and power out. The two little lugs on the front run to your switches. If you run a jumper from the one big lug to the other, it will bypass the relay. If everything works as normal, the relay is shot. I would replace it with the same unit. If nothing still works, get a tester, and check for power coming in on one of the big lugs. You should be able to test the circuitry to your switches by putting the tester on the small lugs one at a time, and having someone operate the switch. If no power coming from the switch, the relay wont work either.

I'll have them here today after work. If it's clicking but not connecting, it's failed internally. This jumper will fix that. I never need that function so I never replaced my solenoid, but it's a brain-dead easy two- beer job and a $100 dollar part. I'd rather have the $100.

Which relay (solenoid) is the Salesman's switch in the Beaver Patriot?
There is one in the front electrical bay - and another in the rear battery box.

It's the one that goes click when your beautiful half pushes the button. Picture of mine within the hour.

Ok here's a shot (i hope) of my bypassed Salesman Switch Solenoid. The wire labled Jumper used to connect the House Batter Power IN to the right side big post of the Salesman Solenoid. It would not comfortably reach around to the House Battery Power OUT side of the Solenoid, so I hooked it to the IN side of the Resettable CB, and the Resettable CB's Power IN wire carries the power to the House Battery Power OUT side of the Solenoid. TA-DAA -- Salesman Switch does NOTHING, your house is always powered unless you use the battery disconnect in the battery bay.

It could very well be the one you circled in the front electrical bay. Have someone activate the switch from inside while you listed at the solenoid outside. I bet that's it. Many 12vdc House systems do not go thru the salesman solenoid; the fridge, smoke CO and propane alarms, furnace and thermostat, etc. Things you would leave on and want powered even tho you are gone.

My heart tells me the solenoid in the battery box is your Battery Boost that connects the House and Chassis batteries together.
