How do I use the slide out braces?
After purchase and driving home the rig, I see these and know what they are but not how to install them. The con man I bought the coach from didn't instruct me on anything and with the help of folks on this forum getting things figured out. 1999 HR 38WDS
Thank You.

Side Oiler-
The bars fit between the wall of the coach and the flange of each slide-out.
Some limited instructions are in this 2000 HR Ambassador manual, page 177.
I used the bars every time, and I did not have a problem with the slides moving/creeping or parts breaking from the rock-and-roll that occurs while underway. You must remember to remove them before trying to extend the slides, though. I thought the effort worthwhile; some folks disagree.
You should add a "signature" to your profile. It contains whatever info you want; most people put info about their coach there, so they don't have to type it into each message. Instructions for adding a signature are here.

Thanks Mark, It just seems weak along the top flange, like it wouldn't do any good or maybe break something. Just pick a spot along the top edge and lock them?

Side Oiler-
My coach's locks were similar but different from yours, and different from each other.
The living room slide lock had a pin at one end and a rubberized foot on the other. Near the top of the living room slide wall, just behind the driver's seat, HR put a "cup" in the wall that received the pin. The pad fit against the upper, front edge of the slide flange, a bit above eye level. It was plenty strong; I tightened it firmly. The one time I didn't the slide lock fell out and narrowly missed my head as I was driving!
The bed slide had a rubberized pad on both ends (i.e., no cup/pin). I had more room to reach the slide flange at the rear edge of the bed, as compared to the front edge. So, with the slide in I climbed over the bed to install or remove the lock between the upper, rear slide flange and the inner wall of the bedroom, a bit above eye level. Again, I tightened it pretty firmly. It never fell out.
Had to be a bit careful, though. Too much tightening and the flanges would bend or the wall would deflect.
If you leave a lock in and open the slide it will move- usually only on the end opposite the lock. There's plenty of power in those little motors. You could bust the mechanism or put the slide ends out of alignment. I tried to develop a habit of eyeing the slides as I opened them. If both ends didn't move- STOP! I also added a lockout switch ahead of each slide switch. It made the slide switch dead. Even then I once in a while flipped the lockout and tried to open the slide without removing the slide lock. Can only go so far protecting me from myself.
[Note on the lockout switch: Once the slides were out I'd put the switches in the lockout position. This prevented accidentally bringing the slides in- especially the bedroom slide, whose slide switch was immediately below a light switch.]

Thank you Mark, I'll try that. I only have the kitchen that slides out and not the bedroom. Nice tip on the lock out/limit switches. Lots of things going on with this coach, working on the exploding generator magnets now, the inoperative Norcold fridge next and the list goes on.
Thank goodness for these forums and the great info you all provide. hopefully I can help some folks out in the future.

It's a 1200LRIM, recall box light fast flash, I jumped the 2 pins that go to the temp sensor that is in the chimney and the light went out and the keypad works, so I assume the temp sensor should be replaced first (need to find one) That's as far as I got. I didn't leave it on very long to see if it cools.
Another question, does the inverter power the fridge because there is no 120v at the plug unless I'm plugged in?
Thanks.

Yes.....the sensor on stack is bad. Does it have a reset button in the middle.
*probably not .... later versions do
Don't know where one can get a new sensor except from Norcold Dealer
*there is a Recall KIT 634737

Thanks for the tip on JC Refrigeration, I'll look into that if I can't get the old 1200 going.
