How hot do you run

I run about 182F on flat roads with a 2001 Cummins 8.3 ISC. Sound "normal"?

My 2001 8.3 ISC with a side radiator ran 180 on a flat road. When I started climbing big hills, it would creep up to 190 and if it got to 200, I would downshift and keep the tach at 2000. The owner's manual for this engine says don't let it go above 212.

Sounds about right for me also (2001 8.3).

178F going down the road. Pullin' hills 195F.

Very normal - diesel burns best at 182-185.

Watch the tranny temp. Fluid is cooked and MUST be replaced at 245 deg.
