How to find a microwave replacement

Hello I need a little assistance in choosing a replacement microwave. I currently have a Sharp but has quit working. Is there one that that works any better than the other? Also I can use some assistance in choosing the correct style. Thanks in advance for your reply. Happy Trails...

If your microwave is a standard 30" unit then it is easy to replace it with any Over-The-Range (OTR) residential model. All OTR units are designed to be built in so there are no venting issues. We had a Sharp microwave/convection oven in our MH and replaced it with a GE Profile Microwave/Convection oven 4 years ago and couldn't be happier.

If you don't have a 30" unit or you don't want to buy an OTR model for some reason you will need to consider the venting implications of enclosing any unit you consider. I've known of people who had issues after having purchased ovens with rear or side venting.

Thanks for your reply. I did purchase a front venting unit that was suppose to work according to sales staff. The problem is that my space is 19" deep and the vents on unit are in front but exhaust on top and that needs to be clear and they are covered due to unit fitting flush on top.

What Sharp do you have?

FWIW, when our Sharp failed after 8+ years of full-timing, I went with the same model. I figured there'd be less confusion and hassle in getting the new one to fit in the hole correctly (and to re-learn all the buttons).

No issues with the install, and happy to say the new one also makes awesome meals. I have no regrets with the amount of use we got from the old one over the years, and would buy the same again.

Thanks for your reply. I have a Sharp 1850A which is no longer made. I would like to find one that has the long screws that go all the way thru from the bottom to the top. I am having a problem locating one and really most sales staff are not familiar with installation processes.

Looks like the Sharp 1875 is the replacement.

1875 Height 16.34Width 29.94Depth 15.28

1850 29 15/16" (W) x 16 11/32" (H) x 15 9/32" (D)

But I have no clue about the screws.

Some of these used to have vents that can be rotated to the top or the front depending on the installation. Are yours adjustable?

Might be a pain, but getting it repaired could turn out to be way cheaper than replacing it. If it doesnt at least you found a good way to recycle it.
