How to make the thermostat brighter
I thought I read some where that there is a way to make the light in the ac/heater thermostat brighter.
It is so dark that at times we have to use a flashlight to see the settings.

On ours I was able to mount a small LED light close overhead.
There were some posts a while ago about snipping a resistor to make the light brighter.

Yes... There are blue sleeves over the tiny light bulbs inside the thermostat.
Unclip the thermostat from the holder and find the two small, black, round bulb holders. Lift the bulb assembly out and gently remove the tiny blue filter from the bulb. Reassemble....

It helps
After reading about removing the little blue "condoms" from the bulbs I tried it and they are significantly brighter. Do it and you won't be disappointed.

And if the thermostat is mounted above eye level, make wedge for the back of it so it is angled down. Being both brighter and angled down is a great way to earn points from DW.

I removed the thermostat today to try taking the blue sleeves off the bulbs. I could see the bulbs under the display bulb but couldn't figure out how to get the sockets out. I was afraid of damaging the circuit board so I didn't try to hard to remove the socket. Am I missing something?
I did take a long small screw driver and was able to push a portion of the cover off each of the bulbs. Reassembled and tested and even the small amount I was able to remove helped a lot.

Just turn the little black socket CC and the bulb will be in your hand, remove the blur cover and reinstall the socket.
