I Can't Believe It

I just removed the sony trinatron 24 inch from the overhead mount in the coach, if I had any idea how much that TV weighed I would never have drove the coach around the block with that thing over my head, if it had ever fallen out It would have killed or seriously injured me. quite frankly I am stunned it has not come smashing down by now, just another testament to the how tough these coaches were built, good job Monaco.

X2. I changed out my bedroom TV when I first bought the coach and noticed the big difference in weight then. But I also just removed my original 29" RCA boat anchor in the front and I'm in the process of shortening the TV cabinet to install a 32" LED TV that only weighs 10 pounds. I also took out the 15-pound piece of sheet metal that was holding the old CRT TV in there... the front axle will be significantly lighter when I finish... well maybe not significantly, but lighter nonetheless! Will post pics when I can.

When I did the tv upgrades in my coach, I weighed the difference. My coach lost almost 120 lbs. between excess wiring, CRT tvs, old school DVD players, switches, and other stuff that just seemed to be left in the overhead.

My tv almost did come down on my head. I removed the TV and however the cabinets above the driver separated from the ceiling. I had a professional come in and reattach the cabinets to the roof. Was a big job. Looks like new. I replaced both tvs with flat screens.

When I replaced the Sony tube in the overhead in front my coach lost 110 lbs. I also cut down the cabinet and a lot of wood came out too. The 32" flat screen Samsung is on a swing out arm now and I have a lot of space for the wiring back there now. I also put the transmitter for my Roku, the hotspot and the transmitter for my wireless headphones back there.

Basically the coach lost a person when I swapped my CRTs for flat screens.

Enjoy your improve mileage, and hauling capacity 8-)
Trinitrons were great TVs, but they are heavy... I can barely pick any of them up, we had a big one, and it nearly killed me moving it around

Yep, I can relate to that! I removed the old tube type TV, had a cabinet shop cut off the cabinet to be level across, and installed a 40" flat-screen on a motorized mount behind the couch.
