Owning my own trucking company for a number of years (not any longer) I would consider actually hiring a trucking company with a lowboy or detachable trailer to haul mine home, if I wasn’t able to do the work on my engine myself I would also certainly consider finding a reputable Cummins dealer to perform the repair, the main reason being, if you should have issues down the road that would be under the Cummins warranty any Cummins dealer could do the work, on the other hand if it’s a local repair shop and you should have issues you’d be force to get it back to that repair shop for warranty repairs at your cost. I’m not knocking any Independant repair shop, but after trucking from Mn to California for 20+ years I’ve seen some friends of mine have issues with independent shops with no recourse other than bringing the trk back to the original repair facility at there expense, that’s not always feasible!
One of my friends had an engine go down in Wyoming and had it repaired at an independent repair shop because it was less than a Cummins shop, it lasted for about 3 months, then he had a Cummins shop do the repair, it actually cost him more money in the long run, food for thought!
Jmo!
