Ideas to Relabel a Switch Bezel?

I had one of the three way light switches get stuck in one position. I ordered a replacement, but the originals were glued in place and in my struggle to get it out, I broke off the corner of the bezel. I found a replacement for $10, but the switch labels aren't the same. Anyone have a good idea for relabeling them?

Wrong label. The original switch is labeled Kitchen, Dining, Living and Bath. The one I ordered is labeled Light, Light, Water Pump, Running. I'm good with the first two, but would like to change the last two.

This may be more involved than you want but here is what I have done in the past for a similar situation.

Walmart sells an adhesive vinyl sheet like the thickness of paper I think they have a few colors though I used black. Recover the entire switch plate cut out the switch openings. Then use a label maker like I think Brother makes with a clear ribbon and white letters, then type whatever you want it called and stick the label under the switch in the proper place.

Another involved option that may work depending on the type of switch that is being used. I had Carling type switches so it worked great for me in this case. Unsure what type of switch is actually in there but if they are the Carling type switches you can cover panel like above and get new actuators for the existing switches at rockerswitchpros.com you can custom print on the actuator and you can also have them put on a symbol ie symbol of light bulb then the text Kitchen Light underneath.

barmcd-

This is where I pull out my labelmaker. Gold letters on black tape works well. Is that bezel black or brown?

Signmakers can reproduce the design and lettering on a vinyl overlay, in any colors you want. It would go over the entire bezel.

Agreed on an overlay. It's hard to tell from a picture but that looks like a multi layer laminate already. Very tough in service but designed to not come apart to change anything. Adding another layer will look better than the label maker. If you have a choice you want a clear layer over the new lettering.

Dennis, I made two bezels out of stainless steel. I photo copied the old bezels and cut out the labels and scotch taped them in place. Still good after 8 years.

I'd probably use the labelmaker approach as suggested earlier; that's your quickest solution. You also could scan the lettering from the old plate. Then edit it on your computer to create matching lettering fit under the switch positions as you wish. Then after printing the image on a quality piece of paper and cutting to fit, you can "make" a tape by spraying the top with a clear acrylic and the underside with adhesive.

Good luck with whatever method you choose!

[Now that I think of it, I'd probably scribble the legends on a piece of masking tape and then put the above project on my "coach project list". :-)]

I received the new bezel and it look just like the original, I think the letters are silk screened on the plastic. I'm still thinking how to relabel these. The overlay seems the easiest so I'll take it to a sign maker and see what they say.

Contact a local shop that makes trophies and awards, the original appears to be printed using sublimation printing, if the metal plate is the same color on the other side, they can probably custom print whatever you want on the back side.

Along the same line of questioning.

Entering our RV there are a couple of "decals" that describe things such as serial number, coach mfgr etc. Those small "decals" get to looking very tired and I would like to replace them. Some are simple plastic things riveted in place and others are metal.

Something like the data plate under the hood of cars along the front edge.

Any suggestions from someone that has actually replaced theirs. I have looked at decal places etc but cannot come up with realistic looking replacements.
