Ignition no start
Cross Posting from safari friends......
Welp, i am perplexed. 99 Safar Continental with Cat C12, will not start with the key. Have to start with the button in the control center at rear of MH. I can shut it down with the Key, just not start. Replaced the ignition, no good, thought maybe the level controls in the drivers compartment, unplugged them, still not good. Any suggestions?
And on a side note, thanks to my son, anyone know where i can get the round key that opens the fuse door on the outside under the drivers seat?

If you have your build sheet/data card our key number is on it from Trimark and you can call them and order it.
If not I believe you may be able to call Monaco to get the build sheet.

Your local rv dealer parts department should have in stock, not cheap, better to buy on line if you have time.

Purchased my spare electrical box (s) key on EBAY for a few bucks (less than $4... I think) Just visually looked at the key pattern and tried to match it. Did not seem to be many different patterns, or I am extremely lucky, because it works great. I tried, but was unsuccessful in finding the key on my EBAY history for the pattern type.

When you say doesn't start - does that mean doesn't "crank" over? If so, I would start with the rear start switch. It may not be making contact internally when the switch is the the front position.
You could try swapping the wires on that switch to see if it then starts (cranks) from the front but not the rear. Or use a voltmeter to test.

If you have the rear start function it relies on a couple relays wired to make this happen. There might be a loose connection on one of the relays or a bad relay causing this problem.
I believe my relays are in the box where my rear start switch is, I see no fuses in my front run bay for the remote start.

No, it will not even turn over with the ignition, starts just fine with the start button in the back. i have messed with that fron to back switch every way to Sunday. This all started right around the same time my ECM went out in May, but i am just thinking coincidence

Would an bad ignition fuse cause this, yet allow me to shut it off from the ignition? I have a couple ,relays in the battery box that is right in front of the rear control center

You still need to turn the ignition switch On to start from either the front or back, so if it starts from the back the ignition switch is working. It sounds like something is going on with the the rear start switch/circuit.
Maybe some wiring was left unplugged or knocked loose when the the ECM was replaced. Look around that area. Maybe try wiggling some harnesses.
I have some wiring diagrams for older Safari and Beaver Coaches (see the link in my signature line) but did not see a specific wiring diagram on the Safari "Rear Start". However I have something on the Rear Start for a Beaver. Maybe it will help - maybe it will lead you down a wrong path.
Good luck.

I have two switches back there, 1 i am not sure what it is for, its not labeled, i started up the motor home, tried the kill switch, ,did not work, i think i may need to replace the switch and go from there. Your wiring diagram is very close.
