Inner dually 2nd schrader valve

Just noticed today while washing my wheels for the first time, that the inner dually's have a pair of braided stainless lines w schrader valves mounted 180* from each other, on the center cap. Does the rim have 2 valves, or is there a Y conection in there somewhere ?
Either way, it seems to me that for the little extra conveinence, they have about doubled the possible failure points .

Could you post a pic?

Are you sure that the 2nd braided line just doesn't do the outer aluminum rim?

No, outer wheel has a normal steel schrader valve extension, pointed in.
I'll try to get a pic, but it may be tough to get them both in, due to them being 180 from each other.
I'm guessing yours does'nt have two?

The outer dual wheel valve stem is about 5:00 in the pic. The other two have to be for the inner!

It looks to me like the outer wheel valve at 5 has a braided hose that comes through the wheel at 6 and then is connected to the top hat. If you want to put air into the outer tire you would connect the air fill hose at the 6 position. At least that's what it looks like to me.

I agree. Looks like there are two ends where air can be introduced. Just a long braided hose from 5 o'clock thru to 6.

My Scepter is the same set up as yours.

You have 2 fill valves - 2 braided lines. Inner and outer dual.

The outer valve has its braided line simply fed back through the rim for ease of access.

If you find it confusing, just put a spot of coloured paint on 1 cap to identify that your checking/filling a particular rim. eg. "red = outer dual"

Do yourself a favor and replace the steel braided extensions before they start leaking with solid metal dually valve stems.

See that outer valve at 5:00. I put the air filler right on that. That does'nt go anywhere.

Ya,

From our vantage point the valve stem for the outer dual appears to have "something" threaded onto the end of it.

We are all suggesting it comes out at the 6 o'clock position.

Have you crawled underneath to look at things???

Each tire has a metal valve stem with a shader valve. The metal valve for the outer tire points in toward the inner tire and without the braided valve extension requires a double headed truck air chuck to inflate or add air to the tire. Hence that is why the braided valve extension are added. The braided hoses that extend the valve stems to the hub of the outer wheel also have a shader valve. These braided hoses are prone to failure and start slowly leaking. It is very important to either have a tire pressure monitoring system or check the air pressure on your tires before the start of each day of travel. In the seven years we have owned this motorhome we have had to replace two of the braided extensions because they started leaking. One was on a recent trip. When we started out all tire pressures were normal but after sitting for two days at a campsite the tire pressure monitoring system indicated the outside rear tire on the drivers side was down to 85 lbs. I carry an air compressor and aired all the tires up. Because the temperature had dropped quite a bit since the start of the trip I thought it might be weather change related. After returning home the coach sat for two weeks beside the house. I went out one morning to check some things and turned on the tire pressure monitoring system. That same tire was now down to 35 lbs. NOT WEATHER RELATED. Changed out the braided extension and viola problem solved.

I'm thinking that you're assuming this and have never had to put air in them because the photo you posted clearly shows a braided line connected to the outer stem.

Good luck with the new MH
