Installing a safe.

I have a 98 HR ENDEAVOR and will go FT this summer. It does not have a factory installed safe. I am feeling the need for a safe and fireproof place to store documents....birth certificates, passports, vehicle titles, wills and other documents. Where does one put something like this so it is accessible but secure?

If you don't feel comfortable answering in the public forum, please feel free to PM me.

My last HM, I located it under the bed platform. Secured to floor with screws in the safe.

My rig came from the factory with one, it's mounted in the closet, right on top of the box for the electrical cable rewind over the engine. Nice hot spot in case of an engine fire. Doubtful anything in it will survive a fire. No room under the bed due to the OTR bedroom air con and slide mechanism.

When we FTd we had a 'portable hand carried' fire safe for important documents.

It was stored by Lazy Boy Chairs so that it was easy to grab and RUN if necessary.
It went with us when we left to go place..

RV Fires happen FAST and they BURN HOT HOT HOT.

Passports etc. MAY make it thru but I would rather NOT take the chance ----hence the hand carried safe.

Other items-----insurance.

I mounted ours in a closet bolted through the floor. A cloths basket site in front of it, even with the basket out it is hard to see.

I have a space in the floor of my bedroom closet that I'm told was where the safe would be if we had one. As it is, its a carpeted hole a little larger than a shoe box. You can't even see it unless you know to look for it. You can actually see the hole you stick your finger in to pull the lid up.
