Go to the RV Systems & Appliances forum on this site and search for posts on "residential refrigerator" installations. There are a number of posts on this subject. I used posts from rnodine as my basis for how to do the modification to our rig. Having a Norcold LRIM 1200 to start with made the Samsung RF197 a great replacement in our rig.

The big points are what is the closest fit to the refer you have in your rig and how it conforms to things around your mounting area. Even after I thought I had all the measurements taken into consideration, it was only after everything was installed that I realized that one of the doors would not open fully and that I could not remove all the shelves if I need access to the back panel of our refer. (Which I did on the first day after installation to trouble-shoot a problem I was having with the fan in the back not working.) Fortunately, that should be a very rare occurrence in the future, but it means having to unbolt and pull the refer forward to fully open one door so the shelf will come out.

It is a worthwhile upgrade.

There are quite a few of us that have done the installation ourselves.

In my signature I have a link to my 2003 Dynasty Mods/Repairs and I show a pretty detailed description with pictures of the removal, modification and installation of a Samsung RF18.

Thanks to all it's done and works great. Installed a GE model gts16gshjrss 14 cubic or so with ice maker. I was able to have it delivered from Lowes at my storage site and they put it in the space. Actually had 4plus extra inches on the left side so I made a pullout condiment drawer . Happy wife happy life. Biggest challenge was securing the frig on the top so I built a small s bracket attached it to arid that attached to the outer wall. Sure is nice now my hearing the Norcold beep when I'm in the frig to long

Glad to hear you were able to get it done.

How about some pictures?

Mike.

Gve...did you happen to take a picture of your "S" bracket that you used. I am in the process of installing essentially the same 16 CF GE unit in my MH and am looking how to attach the top. I have it sitting in the hole, but haven't put any tie downs on it. Thanks, David
