Insulation
Hi folks. I'm looking at 2007-2008 Monaco Dynasty and HR Imperial for a full time couch. I would sure be grateful for some owners opinions on insulation compared to the Tiffen Bus or Entegra units. Cheers.

The insulation is similar in these units. Its nowhere near S&B level. The biggest culprit of heat loss being the slide seals. Higher end units will have better insulation, but keep in mind if you full-time, don't try and be in any coach in Alberta during the winter. It just won't work out well without added skirting and window coverings. These items will be a huge obstacle to set up and breakdown when staying somewhere.

Have to agree with Dave on this one, we are from Alberta and fulltime. Our new Diplomat has preformed well in the cold so far. But I definitely would not want to winter up north in it.
The biggest improvement we have from our 5'er in the cold is the AquaHot heating is so much nicer and comfortable than the forced aire furnace was. We have been down to -10 celius with ours and we're comfortable.
These things will do ok for short periods of cold, but then as Dave said it starts to take a lot of effort to stay warm.

Ha ha thanks folks. We will be in Arizona for winters. I'm staying in a Roughneck trailer while at work. No slide outs and made for Alberta winters. It's drafty but livable. That's the only Alberta winter RV'ing I want to do

DanInAlberta,
The Dynasty is a fine coach. A beef we have with ours is the total lack of floor insulation. The newer Dynasties are built the same as ours in that regard. The newer Entegra and Newmar coaches have a full 4" insulation in the floor. I don't know about the Tiffins.

Yeah the Roughneck is about the only one I would try to use for Alberta winters. I think you'll be right comfortable in the Dynasty in Arizona. If it's like this winter in South Cal, you'll be worried about keeping it cool instead of warm

I am in Calgary and have an 06 Monaco/Beaver Patriot Thunder. I use it going south during cold weather. The windshield is your biggest heat loss. when it is really cold I open it for dinner, and bring in the slides overnight. Two reasons, smaller area to heat, and don't have to worry about ice or snow forming on the slide out toppers.
Keep in mind that if they are NOT free of ice and snow they won't roll up and will be trapped between the slide and coach wall, and play havoc with your slides.
Aquahot makes a HUGE difference.
