So what is the max (or warning) temp with the sensor located there? Is a 1100 degree reading here, similar to 1400 with the sensor in the manifold?
Does CAT have a maximum temp number published?
I have that engine turned up about 20%, 450 hp on the ground, around 500 off the flywheel, I never let it get over 1000* on the pyro, Aluminum melts around *1450.. just my experience.

My coach has a ISL 400, the statement that you quoted was in reference to the the picture in post 26 of an engine in my Peterbilt.

On any diesel it is important to not have any air leaks at all. If you can find a shop that can do a smoke test on it you will be amazed at how many leaks you will find. Seal it up and you will be amazed at how much better it will run. It is important to have a turbo bust gauge and pyrometer to monitor exhaust temps. If you are around Pittsburg Pa. look up Pittsburg Power they can do this test and can also put it on the dyno and put a tune on it. They can also tell you what shop can do it in your area.

From my results you are 100 percent correct. I cant believe how well my coach runs now. Spools up quicker , shifts better , better fuel mileage , oil stays cleaner , all around better. And to think it took us since 1996 to find the problem.
