inverter/charger and chassis batteries

My inverter/charger (Magnum ME 2012) does not seem to be
charging my chassis batteries.
I am needing to connect the house and chassis batts via the
boost switch.

Had all 6 batts (house 4 and chassis 2) load tested by a good shop
he says they are good.

Am starting to wonder if the chassis batteries are getting any
current when I'm connected to shore power.

The article below says I am not.

RV Tech Library - Overview of Inverters and Chargers

Mine is a 2006 Monaco Diplomat.

Any ideas?

My 01 Diplomat did not charge chassis batt from shore power until I rigged it to do so.

Suggest you look at "BIRD" Systems.

My current RV did not charge chassis Batt until I changed this also. Interesting the chassis batt did/does charge with the gen on.

Good luck.

I've learned a lot over the past few days from Fleetwood Rep about Magnum chg/inverters. I had chassis batteries go dead. I was told that chg priorities will charge house batteries first, then switch to chassis batteries. Now the trick is, that you have enough charge in the battery to meet the set threshold in order for the chg/inv to recognize that there are batteries. Now the fix for that is to externally deep charge batteries. I've been through that. Now, having said that, your charger/inverter may not be wired to charge chassis batteries at all. Depending on parasitic loads that are attached to your battery. As many have said before, external trickle chargers mounted permanently will generally take care of chassis batteries.

Battery charging problems/questions is, I think, the most written about subject on this forum. Do a search for B.I.R.D or battery and you will find reams of reading. First you will have to figure out if the coach is designed to charge the chassis batteries on shore power. Someone with a similar coach will help with that. If it is not designed that way then I think trick-L-start seems to be the most popular solution. Or a battery-minder. They are $20.00 at Wally World and work just fine.
Good Luck
Tom

check out Battery Isolation Manager ...www.PrecisionCircutsInc.com ph 630 240 9832 .I think it replaces the emergency start relay and controls chassis batt charge.
