Inverter - Converter problem

'02 Monaco Diplomat

Freedom Combi Inverter Converter
Model 81-1521-12

Operating off 30amp shore power that dropped off (not noticed), and then restored after unknown period (also not noticed).

Found coach with Inverter Converter off line, with blinking red light on unit ("overtemperature/overload ac").

Disconnected shore power, placed battery charger on house batteries for 12 hours. Batteries cool to touch and showing 13 volts.

Reconnected shore power. Same problem with red light on unit (also at remote panel in coach).

Is there a procedure to reset or reboot the converter?

Just found that troubleshooting advice is no longer available from Monaco (Rev Group?).

Or..... do I need to buy a new Inverter/Converter

Page 8 has your particular problem. According to page 31 chart, you can either have a fast or slow blinking red light. If it's fast, then you need to manually restart the system. Which, I assume is turning the inverter off, removing 12 VDC and AC from the system, wait several minutes, then reapply power.

Do you have the optional battery temperature sensor?

If so, try unplugging it from the inverter/charger (phone type connection).

Thanks to all for the responses. Family emergency intervened to stop troubleshooting and repair.

Followed the instructions on powering down. Let everything cool off. Still locked out with flashing overtemp light.

Removed overtemp sensor from connection to battery terminal. Repowered, still locked out with flashing light.

Any idea on how this sensor actually operates? Interruption to a ground?

Is it a fuse, or an auto-reset temp sensor?

The battery temperature sensor is an optional sensor designed to prevent the inverter from recharging to fast. Not currently your problem .

Unless you have an unusually large charger your batteries are not fully charged after 12 hrs.
And, after disconnecting a charger you need to let them rest for a while before you can get an accurate voltage check.
Make sure you follow the Freedom Xantrex reset procedure carefully. You may have missed something.
