Inverter location

Hey guys got an interesting question for you here. So I have a 2005 Holiday Rambler Navigator. The coach is a factory all electric rig no propane. So according to my wiring diagram and my breaker panels I have two RV 3012 inverters. Unfortunately the wiring diagram does not tell me locations. I have located the one in the bottom bay hanging from the ceiling. But I cannot find the second inverter. Anyone else know where this mythical creature is hiding?

Having owned an all electric Executive which is very close to the Navigator I'm very sure you only have one inverter. The difference is your original inverter is a pure sine wave vs the propane refrigerator coaches received a modified sine wave. You also should have eight 6v house batteries vs four in the propane coach.

2005 and older coaches will have a Trace Freedom inverter and 2006 and newer coaches have a Magnum inverter.

See the problem is that the brochure, the wiring diagram and the breaker boxes all show 2 inverters. There are 2 30 amp breakers in both boxes listed as inverter 1 and 2 .

Yes 1 inverter - leg 1 and leg 2.

Your inverter has 2 120v legs coming out of it one goes to the inverter 1 breaker and one goes to the inverter 2 breaker.

One inverter 2 legs. Like a 240v line 2 hots.

Btw the inverter is a 240v inverter not 120. Hence 2 120g legs.

Vyndance,

Very interesting setup so is that one battery bank feeding 2 inverters or 2 battery banks?

Also when on shore power how do the inverters get power is there another panel that the shore goes to then a breaker for each inverter?

One bank, 2 disconnects pulling off of each end that go directly to the inverters. DC loads are split output side of the disconnects 2 salesman solenoids. One inverter is Master for charging one is slave. AC loads are split between them.

In the main panel there are 2 30 amp breakers feeding the pass through of each inverter. From the inverter the AC goes back to a subpanel located next to the main panel with 2 30 amp mains and 8 breakers that control the ac in the coach. I cannot run the A/C, washer, or drier on inverter. I can run everything else, AH electric, stove, built in baseboard heaters and all outlets. Also has 200 watts of solar. Factory Stock Monaco electric coach.

This is where I am confused I have exactly the same

“ In the main panel there are 2 30 amp breakers feeding the pass through of each inverter. From the inverter the AC goes back to a subpanel located next to the main panel with 2 30 amp mains and 8 breakers that control the ac in the coach.”

But with only 1 inverter due to the dual in. Dual out. If you have 2 dual in a dual out inverters that would be a total of 4 legs.

Maybe. You have single in single out inverters that would make all the difference and also would not be tru 240v.
How many romex lines run from the inverters to the panels.

With my dual in and dual out I have a total of 4 2 from the main and 2 to the inverter panel.

They are wired single in single out. The difference is I have 6000 watts of continuous inverter power and you do not.

Ah ok now that makes a lot more sense —- but you are limited to 120v loads where I do have 240v options.

It’s odd this conversation came up because I was just thinking to get my old trace inverter that works just fine and add it back into the coach.

So how does your shore power come in I assume with 50amp one leg per inverter and 30 is the same only split off.

Sorry I have high jacked the thread will move this away.

Yes L1 to 1 and L2 to the other. I don't have room in either panel for a 2 pole breaker and yes I have doubles for a bunch of stuff I've added. What??? are you going to power with 240 split phase in your rv? On the inverter? The OP hasn't been back for 24 hours so we're ok.
