Inverter problrm
I have a 2003 Monaco Dynasty with a Trace inverter. Just got back from a 9700 mile trip through Canada and Alaska. The inverter worked fine anytime we turned it on during the trip. We were unloading into our winter living quarters in Az. and I turned the inverter on to extend the awning. The inverter control panel light comes on then a click is heard and the inverter shuts off. Checked the reset switch on the inverter and it is okay.
Does anyone have any ideas what the problem might be and where to check?

I would guess that your house batteries are low. When the inverter starts pulling amps out of the batteries, the voltage drops below the "low battery cutoff" set point.

Why would you need the inverter on to extend the awning? The awning is 12 volt.
Now as why it shut itself off I'd have to guess that it is what the previous poster said.

Selah, being that he has a Signature Series, the awning would be a Girard and the door and big house one are 110 volt. I have the same setup on mine is how I know.

YOu do not need the inverter to extend the awning, the combination of the awning motor and the inverter took the thing to LOW VOLTAGE CUT OFF.. Shut off inverter, Extend awning, Charge batteries, Try again.
IF it works on the new try then the phrase that applies is:
WORKING AS DESIGNED.

Wa8yxm, his awning is 110 volt, if he isn't plugged in or has the generator or inverter running it won't work. The Girard big awning and the door awning operate off of 110 not 12 volt. I can't say that much clearer.

Jecapar,
Steve and Randy are both right. I have the same inverter and awning. I would confirm your house batteries are charged above the low battery cutoff point set in the Trace. You may have a loose battery cable, dead cell, or something else that is causing the batteries to be discharged. I suggest checking the batteries directly with a meter.
I leave the Trace set on Charge unless I am actually using the Inverter function. That way any time we are plugged in or running the generator the house batteries are being charged.
HTH,
