I have 2003 HR endeavor with a freedom 2000 invertor,4- 6volt batteries and roof top solar unit 100 amp. Is this enough to replace my Norcold 1200 with a residential fridge

. Thinking of the Samsung if it would fit.

Depending on the fridge, something like a Samsung, yes.

See how many Watts the frig will draw and see what the inverter will be capable of working with. Next is how long will your battery bank last based on the draw down from the frig.

I don't think you mean a 100 amp solar unit...maybe a 100 Watt?

Your Freedom 2000 should power the refrigerator just fine. If you have other loads running (TV ect) you will need to be careful operating the microwave at the same time the refrigerator compressor kicks on.
One caution, the parts are no longer available for the Freedom series inverters. When mine failed last year I had to buy a new Magnum series inverter.

Thanks to all for the helpful answers. I measured the existing cabinet. Rough measurements were 66" high,33"-34" wide (hard to get an exact with the trim on) and 28 1/2 " deep. The Samsung 197 is 69 3/4 high. From what I can see I only have about three inches from the bottom of the existing fridge compartment floor to the top of the furnace. Still would leave me about an inch short?

I gained another inch or so by cutting off the wood at the top fascia.

I contemplated the same install and gained a little from the top fascia, but you have to make sure the door isn't going to hit any ceiling objects like lights or speakers.

I haven't done it YET, but I also found I could do it if I made the top of the heater, the floor of the refer compartment. I intended to do this by making metal frame rails on both sides of the heater box so that the rollers on the refer would slide in on the rails. Seal off the rest of the box with tin or aluminum. The refer has about a 1.5" air gap under it which would keep it far enough away from the heater top.

Don (and anyone for that matter) have you considered the Amish Cooling Unit? When (notice I did not say if) my unit goes out I think that is the way I am going to go. Because of all the mods and work that needs to be done with a residential. At least I will not have to worry about the right inverter and Boon Docking etc.

I know there are +'s and -'s on both

The Amish cooling unit for my refer is about $1200. About the same as the Samsung residential refer.

But then there's the cost of at least 2 additional batteries, and finding a place to put them! An additional inverter, and perhaps 2 to 4 solar panels to keep them charged. I'm guessing this could easily get up to several thousand bucks.

It's a no brainer for me. When my Dometic croaks I'll go Amish. If I have to replace the control board I'll use the Dinosaur replacement.

We did the Amish cooling unit on ours.

Thanks for all the comments and ideas. I'm between the Amish and going residential. I thought I saw somewhere here on the blog some folks were having problems with the Amish? I'm going to do a little more research while they put another thermal sensor on my No-cold,then decide the best route to go.
