Is It Just Me With The Search Button?

Before I ask any questions or recommendations on this forum I like to use the search button first. I feel that almost every question has been asked and answered at least a dozen different ways.

So here lies my problem. When I enter something as simple as Window Replacement or Refrigerator Replacement in the search bar. I get results for threads for Tires, Low Coolant Lights, Are there any Vespa owners here, I need an electrician, everything but what I'm searching for.

What am I doing wrong?

Use the Google search bar and search iRV2... works much better than the built in forum search tool.
You can also just go to Google and start any search with "iRV2:" and add your search terms. Any related irv2 finds will be .isted first with others after.

under the search bar there are two buttons - one for the forum, one for google. Could that be it? I get some odd-ball results too but usually find what I’m after fairly easily.

I use this one with the irv2 button selected. Our search engine is only as good as the titles of threads. We are constantly changing these titles when we see them to improve the situation.

being able to target your search is important. I have an Alpine Coach. When I search, I like to use google and specify that the search is in the Alpine Coach Forum. I right click on the Alpine coach Forum link, then paste that in my tool bat. Follow that with a colon and what you are searching for. quotation marks before and after your search terms means you only get items that have all of the terms in your search message. The results are tailored to the order of the search terms. Maybe instead of writing "fix my broken water heater" you might write "water heater broken fix". Here is an example string:

search how to:https://www.irv2.com/forums/f104/

found this: https://www.irv2.com/forums/f104/sea...um-520604.html

The other option is to click on the Search link and select Advanced Search. There you can specify search terms, posts by a particular member, a specific forum (or multiple forums by Ctrl-Click), date range, etc.

The search Lt Dan mentioned is right below and to the right of
the search window CLIFFTALL showed. You can select titles or
if it's just mentioned in a post.
Also at the bottom of a page there is a window titled similar
threads.
