We are new, to us, Holiday Rambler owners. We just acquired a 2003 HR Scepter and in leading up to the purchase we looked into the REV Group of Motorhomes, which is basically a combination of the old Fleetwood and the old Monaco corporations.
Looking at Monaco we noticed that there is only one model for Monaco while for Holiday Rambler there are multiple models.
I'm not including Fleetwood and American Coach in this post because there is a separate forum for those motorhomes. The name for this post is Monaco, which includes Monaco, Holiday Rambler, and the now extinct lines of Safari and Beaver.
With Monaco down to one model and Holiday Rambler taking a more dominate position at the REV GROUP wouldn't it make sense to have a separate forum for Holiday Rambler?

Is Monaco slowly going away?

Not necessarily the REV group may make other Monaco coaches in the future, or they may discontinue Holiday Ramblers.

Toward what end? In point of fact, Monaco and Holiday Rambler coaches from the last 15 years or so, are extremely similar in manufacture and components. You have the largest exposure to owners of similar coaches with a combined forum. Current production coaches under REV and build on a Freightliner chassis have little in common with the legacy coaches built by MCC and Navistar on Roadmaster chassis.

I guess time will tell. The Monaco brand name meant something at one time but with the bankruptcy, change of ownership 3 times, down sizing of the product line to the current offering it isn't looking good.

If we don't see a sudden reversal of what has happen I believe the Monaco name will fade away, just like the Edsel, still fondly remembered but long gone.

Well if Monaco ceases to exist, then .....

Even if Monaco goes away as you think there are still plenty of the old ones left to keep interest in them for a long time to come.

I agree with that. It would be strange though if an existing brand is listed under a retired brand.
Since they are still making Monaco Coach(es) this is all speculation.

I've read thru your post, and this thread, several times but always end up with the same question: "Why are you suggesting this be done?"

My HR Endeavor is a virtual clone to a Monaco Diplomat, and so it goes with the other models up and down the line; everything I've seen for one applies to the other. I look at the Owner Forum banners at the top of the irv2 screen and see several retired brands there with active participation. You suggest Monaco may go away but HR will live on, and we should separate the forums.

Does that mean owners (or prospective owners who may recognize the names but not the lineage) will then have to search thru at least 2 forums to find something applicable to their coach? I, for one, find it all too confusing.

If you take a look you will see that irv2 has a very active National RV owners forum. Just because a brand goes out of production does not mean all the owners are going to take their coaches to the junk yard. In fact, an obsolete brand needs an owner forum for support and help more than one currently in production.

The Holiday Rambler name is very popular and has a huge following. That is why REV choose to produce more coaches under that brand name. As Steve points out, there is little difference between the legacy Holiday Rambler and Monaco brands. Think Ford/Mercury.

As a new owner of a Holiday Rambler built by the old MCC, if your schedule permits, you should plan to attend one of these:

This is probably the best owner education rally available to any coach owner. It's held the first week of May every year.

Well this is the "Owner's Forum" and not the "Manufacturer's Forum". And, with minor exceptions, all the components of a Holiday Rambler are the same as other Monaco coaches.

The real differences in the "Monaco" line are the Beavers and Safaris. They had totally different chassis and many differences in construction, until the construction moved to Coburg around 2006. Yet this is all commingled with Monaco on IRV2.
