Is this a BIRD? He thinks he is...

Hello experts,

I tried to find my Bird on a 2009 Monaco Dynasty Yorkshire and couldn't find it.

The only thing I found was in the rear electrical panel (See Pic). It doesn't look like the Bird board I see on the market Yet it seems to act like one.

Any ideas?

Doesn't look like mine.

Mine is a enclosed black box, about 3" X 2", mounted to the inside of the door of the rear run box.

Tks Ben,
I know, I'm wondering if Monaco didn't use a lot of old stuff in 2009. It seems to act like the Bird since it charges while driving and keeps my house batteries charged while connected. It gets me puzzled. I didn't see anything like that in the wiring diagram...

BIRD is a brand name but that looks like a bi-directional charging control board.

On the large diesel coaches Monaco uses an Intellitec control board with an Intellitec Big Boy isolation relay. This system duplicates the operation of a BIRD system.

@Dynasty09,

That board is called the Battery Control Center (BCC) board and performs multiple functions:

- It is your BIRD
- It manages the Salesman Switch relays
- It supports your Battery Boost function

While plugged into shore power (or generator), and your charger inverter/ converter charging your house batteries, put a multimeter to your chassis batteries and see if they are being charged as well.

And when the engine is running and the alternator is charging the Chassis batteries, use a multimeter to make sure that the House batteries are being charged as well.
