Question Is this a good deal on a 2000 Diplomat Monaco?

Looking at this 2000 Diplomat Monaco Diesel Motorhome and the owner wants 35,000

2000 diplomat Monaco diesel 1 slide 119,000 miles on this cummins engine. Excellent shape!

Thanks, Bob

Depends on overall condition & working order $30 is a good deal $35 not really unless you love it with all working & usable tires etc.

Looks like a nice unit. Sometimes you can get a better price, but the unit is not as well cared for. If it's is what your looking for, get it.

Hi Bob.
Is that a 38A diplomat?
I have a 2001. I paid $35K 2 years ago with brand new tires and batteries and 92K miles.
In the past 2 years we went on a 8 month trip up the east coast. Last year we went on a 8 month trip out west east of the Rockies.
We are leaving in April on a 8 month trip to Cali, Oregon and Washington State.
We have had ZERO problems with our rig other than usual maintenance.
Have the exhaust manifold checked for cracks. Make sure the Norcold refrigerator
had the update.
We love our rig and couldn't be happier. I was going to buy a newer rig, but this rig has been so dependable, We decided to keep it. I now have 117K miles on it and have no concern on leaving on this long trip.
Have the rig checked out by cummins and have the systems and chassis checked.
To me I'd pay $30K with new tires and batteries and pass the indirection. If you really like it. Then $35K but only with tires and batteries.
Let us know the outcome.
Rick

Yup ... looks nice. Mileage is a little high for the money ... nothing wrong with the mileage but it does become a "subtractor" in book value. If ya' like it, buy it ... but look closely first. As others mentioned, $30K is better and probably what the seller really expects.

Well I'll take the other side. Your looking at partout value. I would not even consider an offer that low for my 2000 and most are selling for low to mid 40's IF IF in good condition. Just because a couple have gotten that buy(just saw a close to 200,000 coach go for 100,000) that's great but that ain't my luck. Do a good survey and then deside on good facts.

I'm with Oly on this. I've been looking for the past year and I'd put that coach at 40k all day long if the tires are good/new. I bought a 1998 HR Endeavor diesel 34' with one slide for 35k. It's one owner and under 60k miles. After looking at a number of nightmare coaches I was glad to find this one owner, every tank of gas, and bolt tightened, record kept coach. I bet this Diplomat wont last long if it's in great shape with records.

Owner says it's a 40 foot and owner doesn't seem to say much about the motorhome and has been trying to sell it for months now.

When I bought my 2001 diplomat 38A. The owner didn't say much either. I found it strange. But it was in great condition. It certainly didn't look mistreated. I spent the money and had it checked out. It passed the local Rv shop and cummins inspections. It had no records. I now keep records since I bought it 2 years ago, but this rig has been a dream come true. I figured that if it needed something major done, I bought it cheap enough. It do far had needed nothing but routine maintenance.
Good luck.

2002 Monaco Diplomat

Guess I won't be too concerned about price reading the above posts, but we are settling on a 2002 Monaco 40' diesel next weekend with 2 slideouts. It is from a very reputable dealer. Has 48000 miles, all new tires only a year old by previous owner, all new batteries, 2000W inverter, solar panel and I can't even remember the other options. It is absolutely spotless and we scoured over everything imaginable. The previous owners were meticulous...but it is $49000 and couldn't get it any lower. In our area, we couldn't even find one near to that price and some lesser models were more in the $79000 range. Seems these prices can be all over the place depending on who you buy from.

If the coach is as advertised, you are probably looking at about the best scenario for a used DP. I'd have no problem buying that coach for that price.
