ISL 400 Blown up Rod thru block

I have a 2006 Dynasty that has 45532 miles on it and the number three rod came thru the block. I purchased the extended warranty from a Monaco endorsed company Lyndon Property Ins Co. A Protective Company administered by Prizm Administrative Solutions Inc. This happened on January 16th 2013 and took to February 18th 2013 to get a claim number. The engine serial number is before the Cummins recall. 46471914. The warranty Company has agreed to pay $ 30,089.26 of the estimate cost of $ 36411.25 from Cummins in Phoenix Az. As of March 10th 2013 I still do not have my home. We are full timers and this has been a nightmare. Has any one had a similar experience and any answers for me. allbush@msn.com thanks

Have they started working on it, or still waiting for parts or just letting it sit there?

It's inconceivable to me that this is not related to their wrist pin issue regardless of the serial number.

Wow that is scary. That was one of the things I avoided when purchasing our Dynasty. Our engine was build early 2005 and serial# was also before the ones with problems.

Another thing is that the wrist pin problems all occurred before 10,000 miles in all the cases that Cummins was willing to release info on.

As a full timer, I feel your pain. It sounds like they are going with a remanufactured engine. Does Cummins have a theory about what led to the failure? Did you have any symptoms leading up to the failure? How long have you had the coach? I have never carried an extended warranty but thank God you did.

If you would like a long read, go to the Cummins forum and look for the thread "Brand new Cummins ISX500 failure". This occurred at Cummins Rocky Mtn also and has thousands of views.

This is a good example to use when someone recommends self insuring such as putting a few dollars into an account to cover unexpected repairs. It would take me a long time to save up for this kind of repair.
