I've learned how to use my throttle pedal. If you let up on the fuel but keep slight pressure on the pedal, you can coast but no exhaust break. If you are going down a hill, and back off the pedal but still keep some pressure it will maintain the speed using the exhaust break without down shifting. I only touch my brakes to stop, otherwise my foot is always on the throttle pedal controlling everything else.

Sounds like a good plan... Does anybody use cruise control? Assume you can't while using the exhaust brake.

You know. We have had many threads on this subject. From what I understand the exhaust break does not work with the cruise control on in the earlier MHs.
On my 2001 Diplomat 38A the cruise control does work with the exhaust brake on. So my suggestion is to try it, and see if it works. It's a great combination if it does.

Will check out the other threads and give the cruise a try with the exhaust break.

Thanks.

Replacing the exhaust valve springs on a 12 valve is pretty easy if you have top access to your engine. Just use the correct valve spring compressor. Be sure to clean the top of the engine good before hand and don't loose any keepers. Adjust valve clearance. New valve cover gaskets are a good idea.
If you want an original pacbrake checkout ebay and craigslist. Possibly some people have replaced their functional units with PRXB.
