Hi --

we winterized our Monaco Dip (1999) about two months ago, but we're having the kitchen at the house totally renovated -- demo begins next week. We're thinking hard about de-winterizing, draining the pink stuff from fresh water tank, then connecting up to a 30+ amp next to our dog trainer's barn here in eastern Kansas so we've got a place to live. Weather? Well, today it's supposed to be 55, but this is Kansas and we could have ice and snow by the weekend, or even Thursday. We could be looking at some subzero stuff from now through February. My husband tells me he has installed some sort of a heater with automatic switch in the basement -- think it warms freshwater or blackwater tanks. I think. I've read some forum entries about complicated, heavy duty freshwater hookups, which we would not have ; we'd have to go somewhere for fresh water replenishments.

Is this crazy? Is it do-able? What else do we need to do to make it work?

Thanks--

We spent a winter in Northern Illinois in our MH (2006 Diplomat) while our home was being built. However, we were in a park with hookups. We were not able to stay connected, but did have them available when we needed to dump and replenish fresh water. Because MH's are not that well insulated, we found it necessary to have a larger auxillary propane tank installed to extend the refill time.
So, while it can be done, it is not the most comfortable and efficient thing to do. A better idea would be a small apartment on a month to month rental.
