Keyless entry problem

I have a 2003 Beaver Patriot Princeton 41 ft motorhome.

Our keyless entry keeps beeping and doesnt lock or unlock.

Even when we disconnect the little box next to the passenger side chair it does not stop beeping.

Does anyone know what we can do?

Thank you very much in advance.

Christine

Hi ! Welcome to IRV2! We're sure glad you joined the gang!

You need to find the keyless entry control board, but I don't have a clue where it would be. If I had to guess I would say it's probably in the center console behind the radio.

Good luck, happy trails, and God bless!

Hi Christine, welcome to the forums. Is your keyless entry also a security system? We have the upgraded Viper security system in our Signature and a quick look at the brochure for your coach and it looks like it was an option on yours as well.

Our system being a security system has various sensors on the windows, baggage doors, etc and if one of these sensors is tripped the system will not arm (or lock the doors). If this might be the case, then I would check all the windows and doors and make sure the sensors are aligned (and all of them are closed fully).

Just a shot in the dark, given our own experience. All the best! You’ve certainly come to the right place.

Pull off dash access cover and among tangle of wires find the box that says TriMark on it.
Look for the 2 wire power and ground connector and unplug the connector. Wait 3 minutes and plug it back in.
I have done such several times over course of 12 years.

A little off topic but I took my door apart the other day to lube things and found an electric solenoid on the lock actuator. I have no other indication of keyless entry. I guess I'll look under the dash for the control unit. Are they only controlled by a fob or are there actual buttons inside the units that have this feature ?

A 2003 model coach has an Essex keyless entry system. (I believe the Trimark system was introduced in 2006-2007.) It may also have an optional Viper alarm installed.

The original Essex KE-1601 keypads are notorious for malfunctioning. Most of us have replaced the original Essex keypad with a new KE-1701 model. You may have to open up the hole slightly for the new 1701 to fit.
New keypads are available from A1 Electric in Torrance CA. Phone: (310) 328-8500
Part number KE-1701BHC keypad comes with the original Monaco connector.

The factory default lock codes are 555, 557, and 559. Note: You do not add any other digits after the 555 code.

These things have too many problems for me. I just use the deadbolt on my door. The old KISS theory.

Essex is in Carpenteria Ca. I purshased a 1701 from torrance and it went out , stopped into the plant a few days later going through, they tested it, handed me a new one and sent me on my way. Wonderful people to deal with and an American made product.

We have a 2003 Dynasty with the keypad entry. We had problems with it years ago and replaced it. Then had problems again and when we replaced it that time we went with a different model pad.
The original pad had very small, oval, numbers and they were hard to push.
They were especially touchy in cold weather.
The latest one has nice size square numbers and works much better. We had to use a dremel and create a slightly bigger hole for the new pad but my husband did that easily.
Essex Electronics is the brand, and yes they are in California. All their people are really nice! We did not go there to deal with this issue. It was all done by phone and the new pad was mailed to us.
You should definitely give them a call at 1-800- KEYLESS.

The Trimark system in ours has actually been trouble free!

Hope I didn't just jinx myself stating that !
