Kitchen sink flexible drain hose replacement
As our coaches age, we find the flexible drain hose, a spa hose, splitting and leaking.
Of the ones I know about, the split in the spa hose occurs near the where the fitting and hose are glued together. These hose failures are the top connection about an inch from the fitting.
Upon closer examination, I find the fitting is not securely supported, allowing that part of the spa hose to flex and fail.
Hopefully, you can follow along with the picture tutorial. I realize that our snowflake coaches were not created equally, so each would modify their own procedure to get the job done.
With seeing it done, through the pictures, you will understand how it can be accomplished.
Your body will endure some aches and pains. A few cuss words will flow from your mouth. You might need a few liquid refreshments to clam you down. But in the end, you saved a ton of money, and have a better understanding of the kitchen plumbing.
PS: While in the bowels of the plumbing, hand tighten all the black ABS screw fittings.

Thanks for that write-up. Great job documenting the replacement. I unfortunately had to do that same job on the road last summer. I still am not sure why they use spa hose for that connection instead of something lighter and more flexible. Spa hose is meant to be under pressure and this is just a drain hose. But I couldn’t find a suitable replacement so kept the spa hose.

Thanks Harry!
I'm sure I'll need these instructions in the not too distant future.

Oh goody, one more problem to check on. At least I'll have a roadmap for repairs.
Nice job, thanks.

excellent repair....Had the same thing happen. 2003 discovery...with the slide moving in and out, the hose cracked in the middle...found some clear hose and fixed it right up...

Harry, is that fitting you glued onto the spa pipe special or just a regular 1 1/2" PVC fitting?
I'm going to have a little more trouble accessing my plumbing because I have a set of drawers next to the spa pipe on the kitchen side. I don't know if I have a removable panel there or not. I have a small access opening from the water closet.

Great job Harry, do you have this in a file that can be emailed? Looked at mine today, very hard to get to, but don’t see any moisture or wetness anywhere yet. Knock on wood. [emoji376]

Great job on documenting repair, hope it's not in my future but I know where to go if needed.

Great post Harry. I've bought the spa hose and ends...forgot about the glue.
Like others have said, I hope it's not in my near future.
