Kitchen Skylight Access

Stumped again. We have a kitchen area skylight (07 PDQ 40) with lights in each end of it. I've been replacing the flourescent lamps with LEDs in the other overhead lights and wanted to do this one (plus the existing lights have gone out). There were 4 screws behind the little wooden plugs and I figured taking those 4 screws out would release the cover for access. NOT! The screws are too short to reach the ceiling and there are other screws that look like they would hold the entire assembly in place, but all I need is access to the light fixtures. Anyone have an idea on how to do that? Thanks.

Remove the screws and the molding they run through. You can then slide the diffuser out and access the bulbs.

Tried that but the molding seems like something else is holding it in place.

That's the way mine is put together too. Maybe the end molding is stuck with finish or lacquer. You might try using a putty knife to gently pry it off.
