Leaking Full Wall Slide

My full wall slide does not seal tightly at the top, front, roadside. The certified inspection I paid for did not disclose the gap or leak. The plywood floor under the carpeting, under the coach is rotted in the front corner approx. 8” wide for the depth of the slide. Would cutting out the rot and replacing with new, treated plywood be the best fix?

Two different RV dealers have adjusted the slide—better now but still leaks some times. I would attach a photo but don’t know how… Thank You for your help.

Dwight-

Slide floor rot in that location is a common problem for Monaco-brand coaches of a certain era, due to a defective slide floor design. It might not be caused by a maladjusted slide or poor exterior slide seal, although it could be made worse by those conditions.

The folks at Talin Manufacturing know what causes slide floor rot and how to fix it- repair and apply "Guardian Plates." Link to their Web site is here; I recommend you view the educational videos at that site.

I had to make this repair to my coach. I got great support from the folks at Talin.

If you decide to tackle the repair yourself do a search on YouTube for AZ RV Expert slide floor repair. He has several videos on slide out floor repairs.
In one video he repairs the floor in a Monaco Windsor that sounds very much like yours.
In another he repairs the floor in a trailer slide without removing the slide. The floor is totally rotten and he jacks up the slide enough to replace the floor.
