When I turn on the shower control in my 99 Windsor, water runs down the inside of the shower wall from the control. Can the control be repaired or do I have to replace it. Thanks.

Many shower controls can be repaired from the front by removing the
handle and then the parts will unscrew and pull out .
Usually you can take those parts to a hardware , plumbing supply or
home center and get replacements .
I would certainly try that first since replacing the whole thing is usually
a very difficult job on these R/Vs

The valve stem is probably leaking. Depending on the maker of the valve, you cam just replace the stem. Mine happens to be a moen brand.

im guessing you have 1 handle? Take handle/knob off. Unscrew the cover and you should be able to pull them stem out. They are sometimes hard to get out. Take that part with you to get a replacement. If you can post a picture of your valve ( or email it to me) I can probably give you more details.

After failing to winterize my shower correctly the first time, a freeze cracked the mixer pipe inside the shower control causing it to leak behind the wall when turned on. Valve stems would leak behind the handle and manifest as drips in the shower. I wouldn't rule out needing to remove the shower control.
