shocks
I like Monroe, they came with the RV when new. I have replaced them once. I bought new in 1994, 30' Dynasty. I have bilstein on my 1996 corvette. Larry

JFYI,
I happened to do a search on the Henderson line up of suspension parts. They have Koni's listed for the 1999 F-53 and up for $176 each. If I'm not mistaken that's a pretty good price. The Bilstein's were abput $125 each.

I will contact Source Engineering Monday. Their "Comfort Control Valves" for eight airbags (which use eight shocks) on my Monaco cost about the price of one shock. OK what do they do for my coach and possibly yours is this...........When I hit a bump in the road the "nose" of my coach goes down and when it comes back up it STOPS where it started (neutral level position). Whereas before the front of the coach would go down and up past the neutral level position then come down to the neutral level position. Sorry for the same words so many times, but that is how I can explain it without using my hands. Sanford

Why are the CVv better than the Henderson Motion Control units?

I went with Road King shocks when I changed. They cost a bit more, but ride 2nd to none.

The difference is in the valving of the CCVs. Scott of Source Engineering designed a better CCV.......in my opinion your opinion could be different thats why we have chocolate and vanilla ice cream. Did I mention that I only needed 4 CCV valves to do my 8 bager? Sanford

I have driven air ride trucks for years and wondered just what the shocks were on there for. After all when an axle is loaded to 20,000 pounds of what possible use is a shock absorber that cannot dampen any where near that load? A motorhome is different in the way the suspension is designed from a big truck but must ask again, of what possible use is a shock that cannot suppress such a load?
When Neway Air Suspensions became so popular their maintenance manual stated that shocks must be replace when broken. The reason for shocks on an air ride system is to prevent over extension of the airbags. Air bags don't bounce like springs did because they are controlled by height which is determined by load. This ensures that air pressure is always sufficient to carry the given load. Why would a puny little shock have anything to do with ride?

Very impressive, best money I have spent on our Coach as of today.......

Another vote for Koni. i have had them about 4000 miles so far and the difference between them and the worn out, at less than 30000 mile, Monroe's is amazing.
I am in the process of adding the CCV'S... They are on the way to the house from Source now. More on that later

I installed Koni's at 12,000 miles. Should have done it sooner. No more porpoising without any loss of a smooth ride.

How does that work, only using 4 CCV's for 8 airbags?

One on each corner. Just before the tee in the air line to each corner.
Bilstein shocks for me from Summit Racing. Best price I found. The shocks were designed on the roads near Sacramento. Good choice of roads I bet.
The valves were not cheap. Improved ride about 5-10%.

This may be useful
The valves were $185 each.
