Leveling the 8 bag Roadmaster chassis?
On my new to me 2008 Monaco Knight, I understand that you extend the slides when 1st pull on site; then you turn the engine off. With the key in the on position (at which time the message center begins beeping and squawking that the "engine's not running"), you pump the brakes to get the psi below 60; then hold the dump switch until the air is gone; then turn the levelers on and level. All this time you are bombarded by the beeping and squawking until you turn the key off. Does this sound about right? Thanks for any help given to this newbie!

Hello Wanabee,
Your procedure is basically correct. After extending the slides you can dump most of the air by depressing the parking brake switch about half way. You can then dump the air bags while you are in the accessory position of the key (no beep). To extend the jacks you will probably have to have the ignition key in the on position.

Yes, but find the noise makers and put some tape over their mouths to quiet them down a lot. You can still hear them but you won't take a swing at someone from listening to the loud sounds.

Too short and went over your head?
The chimes and buzzers usually have openings that let the noise out. Covering those holes with tape will quiet them down but not block all of it.

I once had a 2002 HR Endeavor and if I remember correctly, the procedure was, turn off the engine, extend the slides, dump the air bags with a console switch then level with the jacks. However, my system was cheap-o and took a long time for the air bags to deflate so I pumped the brakes which got the bags down faster. Not only did it deflate the bags but the whole air system. The ignition remained off all the time.

Have you actually done this? On my 2002 Endeavor, the slides would not extend with the engine running nor would the engine start with the slides extended.

I believe you are correct-engine off then the slides (neighbors would appreciate it). I will try using the accessory position to stop the beeping before I resort to tape.

Accessory position on my 08 Endeavor will not work for me. The beeping is a real nusiance.

On our 2006 Diplomat the engine will crank with the slides out but the slides will not move with the engine running. If we are setting up on an almost level or level site we don't worry about putting the slides out before lowering the jacks. If the site has poor level we put the slides out with the engine off, then dump all the air in the tanks and bags and then put the jacks down to level. Before bringing the jacks up we start the engine to build the air back up. Once the bags are full and the air is up, we raise the jacks and then turn the engine back off so the slides will come in. You will sometimes get weired looks from non-Monaco motorhome owners when you do this.
