Sacs and I are on our property in Oregon...which means I have very slow, limited or no access to the Internet...so I apologize to all who are looking for us...Our service will be "Hit & Miss" ... but that does NOT mean I won't stop trying!!

Uh-oh, sounds like a case of the Dial-Up Blues, 'Mama. Bummer.

Have y'all looked into getting satellite-internet? Way better than dial-up or StarBuck's, but not quite as fast as DSL or real cable. Or maybe a cellular-provider's aircard (if you have phone reception)?

I've found that the aircard worked great in many locations, and even better with an external antenna. But like the tv-commercial said, there are times when I "absolutely positively had to..." get on-line so I bit the bullet and went with a roof-mounted Motosat dish too. It has had some teething-problems since I got it a few months ago but so far Motosat has stood behind everything, and I'm pleased.

Hey, maybe we can all take up a collection to help 'Mama and Sacs get back online.

I thought the forum was unusually quiet.

Have you checked into an external antenna (and maybe an amplifier)? I got the Wilson Trucker kind (looks sorta geeky, tho, with the 4 radials sticking out at all angles) and it sure makes a big difference in fringe areas.

At least 2 extra bars most of the time... if there is service to be had to begin with, that is. Or you may be in one of those areas that even a tower might not help. That's when the sat-internet comes in.

Surely this won't last long??!!

Service ...edgy right now...but when I had gone out of the hole... I did get a chance to get this pic loaded...It is quite peaceful here...as long as you don't mind pulling some of the scotch broom!

ok ... off to start supper!

PS... if you go below to see where Mama is... and zoom out...you will see how close to the ocean our property is!

WOO-HOO!!

Well, Sacs, the 2 Pins & I should be moving to the Thousand Trails South Jetty park tomorrow. We should have cell & Internet ( I took laptop to make sure ) too...so life may seem to be back to semi-normal (the EVDO does NOT like to run all day it gets too hot!)...luckily Ronboc won't have to start in on that donation pledge yet....
