Magnets in motor are very strong and make it difficult to pull apart but once you pull the 2 long bolts it does come apart. May need a little screwdriver to give. It a tweek.

If the brushes come out, make 100% sure they are back in position, or you will need a new motor. Don't ask how I know!!!!!

I just pulled my motor and the brushes are shot. They just crumbled to dust. Pretty disappointing for a system less than 2 years old. Does anyone have a mfr # for the brushes or the pump motor? The Lippert part # for the motor is 179327 and the whole thing is available on their website, but at over $700, it seems they are intent on gouging folks.

I took the whole thing into a local electrical motor shop and they estimated $188 to re-build. No guarantees as mine is really shot also. I am going to take it there this winter. Now for the pump...

I have it at a local alternator repair/rebuilder and he is trying to find compatible brushes. The hard part is figuring out what the part number is for the brushes, or the original manufacturer of the motor (not Lippert's #). Chances are this is a Chinese motor and hopefully he can find suitable brushes for me.

As for the pump, I think I'm good with that (so far). I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

tankcj, thanks for the lead! I'm going to see if my guy can find the brushes first, then take it from there. No trips scheduled for a little while so I have time.

Got the motor back from the shop. They were not able to cross reference any numbers for new brushes as we had figured. Lippert does a good job of hiding any kind of identification and the Chinese motor mfr has made it easy for Lippert to drive you to purchase a new $777 motor from them and them alone.

The rebuild shop was able to manufacture new brushes from an existing set that were similarly shaped. Total cost for the work ...... $40! I installed it this past weekend and she fires right up and works as advertised. Highly recommend going to a rebuilder if you have any motor problems.

Took mine apart today, I broke a bolt. The interior pick-up tube etc is very different.

Motor held on by the external pump. Two Allen screws and two star. My issue is not intrusion into the electric motor, but a broken o-ring I noticed water intrusion, the fluid was definitely water contaminated. I was going to completely disassemble to clean. A set of O rings, plus one bolt, should have you back in good shape. Good thing you are handy. Let us know the results.

Pump is rebuilt and reinstalled and working great. I thought it was the seal between motor and pump, and it was just a simple oring. Click image for larger version
