Looking for a fuse..??

My dash lights and cigarette lighters are dead.. I'm wondering if they are both on the same fuse? I have pulled every fuse I can find but non of them are bad..I even downloaded the wiring diagram but was not able to track it down.. any ideas? thanks!!

Below the driver in the outside compartment are two fuse panels. One small one below a very large box. Open the small one and look inside the lid for the fuse layouts. You problem may be there.

I think you may be right about the dash lights and cig lighter. I was installing my MCD front window shades and needed a always on 12v source. I had a cig light just under the sterring wheel that I never used so disconnected it and used the power and ground for the shade switch. shade works fine but dash lights don't work. I have not had a chance to get back under there and reconnect it to see if the dash lights come back on. You may have a loose wire at the cig lighter.

I pulled the dash and checked the wires with a volt meter.. dead as a hammer... I thought I might try and trace them to where they went... wrong.. there must be 1000 wires under the dash...LOL... thanks!!

The dash lights go thru and are controlled by the headlamp switch. The brightness is controlled with a rheostat built into the switch. I have seen the switches go bad and also the connecting plug on the back of the switch melt. As far as the cig lighter I will look at my wiring diagram and see what I can find for you.

The dash lights have their own fuse. If the fuse is good then your headlight switch rheostat is bad. A new switch is cheap at any parts store. I think it's off a chevy s-10. I just bought one for my 2001 diplomat 38. I think $8.50. I'll try and find the part number.

The dash cigarette lighter is fuse #11 and the dash lights are in the monaco 1 small box. It's labeled panel lights.

The cig lighter fuse is in the large fuse box on top. Fuse #11. The dash lights are in the smaller box with the snap on cover on the bottom left, Monaco #2, labeled "dash". I would really look at the headlight switch for your dash light problem. Are all three cig outlets dead?, the two on the dash and the one under the dash by the passengers feet.

Inconspicuous fuse box

I just bought a 2000 Diplomat 38D. The Electric Gremlin gave me fits until I found an inconspicuous fuses box not labeled in the compartment in front of the driver's side wheel. There is a box marked Monaco 1 and another Monaco 2. In line with those is an electrical block with several fuses.

In the top of the compartment to the right is a plain black panel held in place with three nylon wing nuts. On the inside of the lid is a wiring diagram of the circuits in the box. My search ended there when I found a blown 7.5 amp fuse for the vacuum pump.

The cigarette lighters on my rig are connected to the house batteries. The dash lights are on the chassis batteries. The dash lights are in the monaco 1 box. It's a 10 amp fuse.
If all the fuses are good then it Is probably your head light switch. The rheostat probably broke.
I have a 2001 diplomat 38A

Cig Ltrs = in large fuse box (under driver outside) top row - second from far left - believe it's numbered #58.. It is labeled something that has NOTHING to do with cig ltrs...
