Looking to purchase a 2008 - 2010 Dynasty 42+

My question is, I have seen and heard many things about the multiplex 12V wiring for dash/instrument panel gauges and interior of coach. Used only for the 2008 - 2010 or 2011 years?

Is this something I need to stay away from. Last, I understand is that the manufacture of this system is out of business and there is no replacement if you have issue.

How often do they have issues?

Is there a work around if you do?
We had a 2002 Monaco Windsor, and we loved the coach. We full-time in it for 4 years and got off the road for the last 6 years and now looking to go back. I really like the Dynasty and do not want to get into the DEF era. But really worried about this system.
Any advice or information would be great.

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone.

Looking forward to being back out there.

God Bless
Dave

It's important to distinguish between the Intellitec and the Kongsberg multiplex systems.

Monaco installed the Intellitec house multiplex system in 2005 and newer diesel coaches. Intellitec, M&M, and several others support the Intellitec system.
The chassis multiplex since the very early years used the Smartwheel system.

Somewhere in the 2008 or 2009 production Monaco introduced the Kongsberg chassis multiplex system in the Dynasty, Executive, and Signature. Kongsberg is still in business but does not support this system.

There is a memo on Monocoer's that says the Kongsberg system is in all the big 2008-2009 coaches, and that was probably the original intent. But I've seen more than one 2008 big coach that still had the Smartwheel system. Remember most 2008 coaches were built in the 2007 calendar year.

Just a side note that some of the Smartwheel systems are no longer supported either. Just the name of the game in electronics.

There are a few folks that have successfully repaired the Kongsberg system. There are also folks that have repaired the Smartwheel system.

Thank you for the reply. Is the way you tell them apart by looking in the compartment under the driver's side? I was told to look to see what the wiring looks like under there. If you see many panels, it's not the Kongsberg system. I was told to stay away from that one.
The one I'm looking at right now is a 2009 so will most likely be in the middle of it.

Thanks again.

Good morning,
If you want to stay away from Def then you will need to cap your search around 07, maybe 08.

I can attest to the 2008 Dynasty being a great coach, after five years of ownership. Mine was completed in early June of 2007.

I have the Intellitec system and it has given me some problems but all’s well now. However I did have an issue with the smart wheel. The wipers wouldn’t shut off. It’s working okay now, but who knows when it happens again.

We considered selling the coach this winter, but have changed our minds. It’s too great a vacation home.

pduggs, yes, they are a very awesome coach. I really want one but very worried about the Kongsberg issues that could come up.
I hope you keep enjoying yours.

Monaco purchased a large number of 2006 pre-DEF engines and used them in some 2007 and 2008 coaches.

I think there is some confusion. DPF's wrre required sometime in 2007. DEF started in 2010. However many mfrs. had stock of engines with no DPF as ate as 2009, DEF is Diesel exhaust fluid. A complicated system with lots of sensors, heaters, dosers and more They were required in 2010. But again many mfrs. had stock of earlier engines that did not require DEF. My experience with a DPF engine has been good. ONce we had aproblem after Cummins did an update. They reloaded the software incorrectly. The DPF rarely ran. That was corrected and so far so good. However I would not be surprised if the DPF might require an off chassis cleansing. Class8 trucks can do a forced regen. Motorhomes usually do not have that option. Probably the mfrs. were afraid an RV'r might do a regen when parked on grass. Chance of a fire!

No need to worry. Just buy a Dynasty with the Intellitec system. I think you’ll find far more Dynasty’s with this system, versus the Kongsberg.

This come up once in a while. Can anyone give some education. Is it an option or were all Kongsberg during certain years , did some have Intellent and some had Kongsberg. Did Dynasty have one Signature another ect. What years were Kongsberg used. How does on tell the difference. Not sure I ever seen Kongsberg in pics.
