Loss of hot water pressure

2005 Monaco Cayman new water heater installed year ago.

We periodically lose hot water pressure. Doesn't happen all the time. I've tried everything I can think of, turning water off, turning outside faucet to release internal pressure. Sometimes it works, but not all the time. Cold water pressure not a problem.

Thanks for any help you can give me.

If all winterizing bypass valves are set correctly for use, I'd suspect a check valve at the tank. You could try pumping a gallon of vinegar into the lines to dry and dissolve any mineral deposits, but I'd also flush the tank out afterward even though it's only a year old.

What model is your 'new' water heater?

If Atwood or Suburban 'standard' model then check valve in HOT Out is failing

If Atwood XT Model then the 'mixing valve' hot inlet is clogging up

Either way....problem is at water heater
IE: Loss of hot water pressure

x2 on the check valve being the culprit. We had the same issue. Hot water would be ok and then suddenly very little pressure. It was intermittent and would be ok for one campout and then back to a cold shower. Turned out to be the check valve for the winterizing bypass valve.

Ditto the check valve. Removing the HWH to replace it is not that difficult.

Having a pex clamp tool is very handy. Warming the pex with a heat gun or carefully with a small torch makes the tubing much easier to handle.

The check valves are probably at Lowes etc. That is where I found mine.

I have a 2005 Monaco Knight with no hot water pressure all the sudden. Where is check valve ? I don’t see any on visible areas with Pex pipe but can’t see behind Atwood GC10-4E water heater. Can I remove hot water tank without replacing pex pipe ?

Thanks

Unfortunately it is behind the Atwood and you must remove the unit to replace it.
